Assembling a Lightning Detector - Blitzortung System Blue - Part 1

4 жыл бұрынToday I'm assembling and testing a Blitzortung.org System Blue lightning detector. The system uses very low frequency electric and magnetic field antenna to detect lightning pulses, then in co-ordination with all the volunteer station, uses time of flight to "triangulate" the original location of the pulse. Let's see if I can get this thing up and running and detect some signals.

Nice video. Your soldering skills far exceed mine. Good to see another Canadian detector online. We could use more especially in the eastern Prairies. I have been online in Regina since May 2019. Your stations seems to be performing well. Welcome.

Thanks, I recently switch the station from automatic to manual mode and have been optimizing the gains. I'm getting more signals and the station is going into interference mode less. Seems the automatic mode had the gains a bit to high and the signal threshold a bit too low. Now all I have to do is find the time to mount the antenna outside :)
