Better to spread the heatsink paste prior to sticking the parts, you see how you have dry spots. Not all area gets covered your way (unless you use excessive amount of paste so it starts to get squeezed out on the edges.)
@kchimusaru
@kchimusaru 5 жыл бұрын
Thing is - peltiers are ceramic and contact with paste should be spread all over rather than squeezing like a CPU. Its ceramic not metal so heat is not spread out well on the peltier irself. Your heat transfer potential is only maximised around the point of contact through the paste. Therefore, you have diminished conductivity from the ceramic surface to the metal surface by having the paste only on some of the peltier suface.
@DrBlackAdder

Thank you Kevin, you're 100% right. If your making one of these kits, listen to Kevin!, The paste needs full coverage for optimal heat transfer.

Would a bad peltier plate (heat sink) cause my wine cooler to get colder than its set to Its set to 18c and it goes to 10c
@reluttr2
@reluttr2 23 күн бұрын
Usually you see a drastic decline in cooling performance when a pelter fails, not the other way around. From what I've seen while studying how pelter based refrigeration units work, they are very simple by design. Basically you have your pelter unit, a power supply, a 12v pc fan, and a switch. The units with "temperature" controls don't really have a means of adjusting the "cooling power" of the pelter as its basically a solid state heat pump with a hardware set efficiency. So on temp control units, its either just a placebo, or it just simply turns off the pelter until the internals warm back to the desired temp. That being said, what I theorize is the issue in your case, is that the ambient temperature in the room is cooler than what the manufacturer designed the fridge to operate in. Because with pelter units, up to a point, will get colder depending on how well the hot side is cooled.
@colindavid5868
@colindavid5868 8 күн бұрын
@reluttr2 my thought was the temp sensor in the unit was faulty. Turns out it was so it would run constantly never stopping at the desired temp. Ran a new temp sensor and that did the trick.
