New seals and bearings with the used gears. The other side was inspected and we replaced a bushing and a seal. Also not making the video, we moved each front wheel out two inches to better fit our row spacing. Cliff hanger at the end, but we know it moves.

The more I look at this video the more it scares me how tiny that front axle is. Jacob I agree with you about loosing the weights.

Thank you. The axle portion is probably strong enough, it's the size of the hub and gears inside. The planets look like a teenage anorexic girl, and I wish they engineered more like Nick.

Something I did when we rebuilt a combine final drive last fall, we had a bearing that would not go on, we heated it up in a kitchen oven to about 3 to 350, worked great for making it go on.

Cher has a hot video about If I Could Turn Back Time on a Battleship .You got it all buttoned-up n probably been mudding . I would have disconnected other side n removed drive shaft last year n checked out rest of powertrain n condition of tractor to see if you have anyone issues. Last owner did alot of brush hogging turning on concrete or asphalt or hard ground that would shorten life expectancy of turning components .Could say your in a new ball game Hope all go's well ..

Ever do the old trick of taking an arc welder and drawing a bead on the stuck bearing race? It heats it up enough to slide off. Worked on my old case backhoe.

Yeah that axle looks way undersize for a tractor of that size and power, and I remember watching one of your earlier videos where you were plowing I think and it was like no slip on the front which is putting a TON of strain on the gears. Ol' Onelonleyfarmer had the wheels set all they way out on his old 7410 Deere loader tractor (or was it a 7810, can't recall) and picking up 3 big squares at a time and bouncing around with them in the field or doing a lot of turning sitting still or barely moving (always best to turn while MOVING with a heavy front end load like that... even on a car or truck it's WAY easier on your steering linkages, power steering pump/system and box/rack-n-pinion plus the tires if you are at least moving a LITTLE while turning the steering wheel, rather than just sitting still) he was eating those upper and lower "ball joint" bearings on the hubs (kingpins) every few months or so... having the wheels set all the way out really puts a lot of stress on them because of leverage-- center of the tire is where the weight is carried and the lowest load on those pins/bearings is when the center of the tire is as close as possible to the center of those kingpins. Why those new tractors with the front duals, just makes me shake my head. Course they oversized everything probably 3-4X what they are on that front end to "handle it" but still, that's a LOT of weight/torque on a very long moment of leverage (length from the center of the outer tire to the kingpin bearings/steering ball joint for that to have to support, particularly if the inner wheel is off the ground due to being over a low spot or hole and the outer tire being on a high spot or not in a hole and carrying all the weight. Why they say not to put duals on the front of those old IH 2+2's, thought I've seen it done... they simply aren't made to hold up to that level of stress-- the front end SHOULD slip a little so long as it's not power hopping, which breaks parts. With front duals, she ain't gonna slip and so its REAL hard on them. Plus on a 2+2 front duals will usually collide with the rear duals in a sharp turn-- you have to watch for that REAL close, where the single front and rear duals will never collide in a turn since it was designed to run like that. A true 4WD tractor is slightly longer so the front and rear outer duals get close but don't collide in a turn unlike a 2+2... A couple inches probably don't matter to the longevity of the hub/kingpin bearings but you DEFINITELY don't want to overload it in that condition, like say picking up 3 big square bales on a front end loader like somebody else does... probably a good idea to ditch that extra weight... slippage isn't ideal but it's better than getting 100% traction and tearing up gears and stuff. Also they say to change that oil every year IIRC... cheap insurance.

The big nut hub I think is a better design you can at least adjust preload on the bearings. The smaller bolt design preload is non adjustable. Bad design if you ask me.

And those eight bolts hold the ring gear alone. The other side had all new bolts. Maybe they were adulterated in the past.
@RYAN-nd8bv
@RYAN-nd8bv 2 жыл бұрын
@@boehmfarm4276 The eight bolts hold the ring gear on the pins 60 foot pounds. The preload is fixed by the distance from the back of the ring gear to the bottom of the spindle. So any difference in bearings or gear or spindle and your pre load is off. The new bolts was probably from gear failure that chewed up the heads of the bolts.

I suppose the ZF axle final planetary gears need EP gear oil, at least for the increased weight of TW Ford. Would it be safe to use API GL_4 or GL-5. Zf has a lubricant list for APL-300 series: aftermarket.zf.com/remotemedia/lol-lubricants/lol-en/lol-te-ml-21-en.pdf
