Luv the tailstock upgrade, I made lock idea about a year ago for saddle works supperb also the saddle backplane upgrade, vast improvement. Keep up the good work, all the effort will pay off.

Hey Trevor. You have done a great job on the Tail Stock. You really are spoiling this Lathe with all these improvements. Maybe you should re-market these re-manufactured Lathes back to prospective buyers. Maybe some food for thought ? Thanks for the updates on your progress. Peter.

Hi this is looking great you are turning this mini lathe into an interesting machine to last longer then it was likely to if left as it were. WOW look at that face handle. Your machined parts really came out so nice, we remember when you started this upgrade and we said we will do what we do, sit back and watch the videos see what comes to be here and learn some tips along the way as well. The tail stock came out great really nice share. Thank you, Lance & Patrick.

Thanks Trev. I also drilled the hole in the wrong place ,can you tell me the distance from the edge of the bottom plate as the lathe is already bolted down to my work bench

Are you sure a steel base sliding and being clamped against cast iron bed ways won't be a problem down the road? I like the idea, but I think I'll add some nyoil or bronze contact strips under the steel tailstock base just in case.

G'day Mate, exactly what problem do you think a steel surface against a cast iron surface would create? Just curious.

@@TheAussieShed maybe nothing at all, but steel is harder than cast iron. The same reason gibs are made of the same or softer material than the surface they move against...so the ways or dovetails don't erode to fit the moving part. Then again, I may think too much. Keep up the good work. 👍

I made the plate same as yours but I can't get the nut on.I made the locking plate for the sadle and it's fine but not on the tailstock

Hi Frank, you have to countersink the hole for the tailstock nut. You can see it at 7.34 in the video. Hope this helps. Cheers.
