I was sort of bummed out last week so I made this tribute. I was going to write a whole explanation about my opening with Swing Time, but I opted not to. I leave it to the viewer to decide why. Lauren PS The category is random.

Great job!!This movie is so full of affection, compassion, and gentleness. There is such a deep emotional connection between Ginger and Fred in this movie. The last waltz means so much to Vernon and Irene, as well as, Fred and Ginger. It was their last hurrah and so final.Their last dance of pure love and enjoyment as the public intruded into their most intimate moment together.I am glad Fred and Ginger did dance again in one more movie.Love, caring, tenderness, elegance, and grace...Pure Magic.

Magnifique hommage à ce duo de danseurs exceptionnels que furent Ginger Rogers et Fred Astaire ❤

Such a wonderful tribute to the Castles movie. Fred & Ginger were amazing together, and this movie showcased their affection for one another in a way that their other movies didn't (and Barkleys' did the same).

I'm not crying, you're crying! 😭 That was very moving, the film itself is so heartbreaking. The best proof that Fred&Ginger should never ever be torn apart. Neither on nor off screen. Oh God, I'm bawling my eyes out. This is so sad, Alexa, play "They can't take that away from me".

This was so beautiful. It broke my heart. It really did. The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle is so sad. My eyes teared up the first time I saw it, and I know if I were to watch it today (if I could even make it all the way through) they'd tear up again.

I don't suppose you are reading this 12 years later, but the opening (everything before the 1911 signage) was from "Swing Time" and everything after was from "The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle". The Castles were a famous dancing duo from the 1910's, and this movie was a tribute to them. Audiences of the day would have known who the Castles were and possibly seen Fred & Ginger as a similar dance partnership. This was the only movie that F & G did where they played a married couple until "Barkley's" 10 years later, and it really got to showcase the affection and love between the two in a really sweet way.

very poignant - a kind of portrayed guileless sincerity not deemed important in movies anymore
