idk why Astel is 10x more aggressive to me than the videos I see in yt He spams his slam attacks and gravity attack nonstop. then when I'm getting a good damage he will teleport and eat me. idk to you guys but his gravity attack is close to impossible to dodge even if I evade the gravity attack after he does it it will still deal the same amount of damage when I'm near

Go talk to varre in liurnia to get the badge to go to mohgs area and then go to the farm spot, you’ll to lvl 100+ in a couple hours easy. Just KZfaq or internet search how to get there

Mimic+10, Dragon Rot, 2x bonk build did it for me. Cast your mimic summon as soon as you enter room and dodge to the left or right of astels initial laser beam then his 1st and 2nd tail wip attack as you work your way closer to him. It is important to not lock onto him yet. Your mimic will follow pursuit and astel will then turn his attention towards your mimic. Perfect time to lock onto him and use 1 blue bar of dragon rot on him and watch his health deplete as you keep your distance and anticipate/avoid his next attack. Now get closer under him for 1 or 2 bonks by locking on to him briefly as he focuses on your mimic and then unlock immediately and run away as he will use his strong aoe attack or grab on you. He will focus on your mimic once again and then repeat the rot step again. Your mimic summon will also use dragon rot on him through out the fight which will add to the rot status effect of depleting astels health.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! I'm at lvl 80 and I fought this gut at nearly 10 times last night, and used the other methods like the poison breath with no success. After watching this video, I did it in 4 tries. The key way blocking that stupid beam. I have that same shield at +10 so all I had to do was redo my attributes and fight him with my +7 moonblade katana and finish him off with Loretta's now and Rock Sling. This was the first boss I beat without calling in help.

Holey Doley B Man this looks good! I've been trying to beat this guy with no luck...My spirit summons, tried a few including Mimic, all tend to stay back and not get involved in the fight, so I'm not getting much of a chance to do damage...can't wait now to get and try him again.

Just want to point out that as of today, a day after the nerf, this strat still works and I recommend it. You can pair flies with using a crossbow with blood bolts. It may not be as effective as it was before but you can still use this this to kill the boss from a distance, with the xbow as well. It still seems easier than getting in close where he can do so many damn attacks against you,

I'm a level 173 samurai so I'm obviously doing a bleed build. I have the rivers of blood+9 and my bloodhounds fang+10. I've never tried this boss until tonight. What I know is arcane = blood build up so with my arcane being 45 I should be good along with my dexterity being 50 I should be good plus with a maxed out mimic tear I should be fine. Oh and if your going for a bleed build I'd get bloodflame blade that'll give you a added bonus for the bleed and fire damage as well.

Doesn't work for me I'm afraid, my mimic won't even engage the creature, just stands there. Kept casting the flies but they didn't do anything either. Reckon they must have nerferd this strategy with the update.

@@tonyfetter1054 the mimic used to be super op, they nerfed the Mimic and made its Ai dumber. And as of today they also nerfed the Swarm of Flys. If you get good with using Bloodhoud Step with magic you'll find a fun way to play.

If you really want the Mimic to use magic. You have to unequip all weapons except your seal/staff, also only have the one Spell/incantation you want him to use memorized, otherwise he'll randomly switch to a different spell/incantation. Honestly Tiche is a better summons than Mimic now

Just beat him! I'm a lvl 78 mage. My tip for mages is equip a good shield, take a physick, spawn a summon (I used +7 wolves), and haul ass to get close to him. Once close spam rock slick and drink mana. Once halfway he will spawn meteorites you will need to use shield while running straight at him. I took little damage from doing that. Once the meteorites are over continue spamming rock sling. If you are running low equip a melee weapon (I used moonveil katana +9), try to get underneath his belly and wale on his legs. Boom he's done. Stay away from his pinchers just stay behind him or underneath. That's what I did took about 10 tries

A Funny about this is using this strat and always get smack to the ground. Finally I just go for it with lv91 and int/dex build with moonveil with no fp left so I just smack it in the face and beat it first try which is realy weird

Eh, all I did was use blood grease and blood hound step and a twinblades 2 handed and he went down like a ton of bricks after 3 minutes. Didn't even know he was so tough. Fyi, I did use stone of garraque like 3-4 times and swarm flies a few times cause it was getting boring. To me, fight was kinda mediocre. I guess blood hound step was key cause he couldn't touch me. Hp never went down cause I specialize in bhs! You guys should try it. Already took him on twice and he's really slow. Also, when you think you see an opening, don't ever go for it. Astele loves to fool you into thinking you got him, little bastard!! Learned that after playing with him for awhile. He's actually kinda fun to play with cause he thinks he's smarter than you!! He's one of my fav's to practice bloodhound step with! Guys a dweeb, 😆!! Oh, Fyi, don't lock onto him. He teleports to much! If you do, it'll mess you up a lot. Learned that the hard way. Overall, took him out by mostly close contact. Just make sure you don't spend like more than like 10 seconds under him, skitter in and out, rinse & repeat!! he'll go down before you know it. Guaranteed! Actually, I like the guy cause he try's so hard, Lol!! Cheers all!!
