SPACETIME - SCIENCE SHOW: For centuries man has gazed at the stars. For centuries the universe has fascinated us and given rise to numerous questions. What is still out there? How did it all originate? Where do we come from? But we also live in permanent danger. Along with us, millions of objects are hurtling through space: meteorites, comets, asteroids. Some of them we know. Others have yet to be discovered. The biggest of them are true killers. If they hit the Earth, it could mean the end of mankind.
We search for asteroids and observe them, calculate their orbits, and assess how dangerous they are. We can even land on them. But not every object coming from outer space is discovered.
And when heavenly bodies come too close to the Earth they pose a real threat.

Hi , walt._. What are asteroids made out of ice or water._. Is fire and ice a type of cold fusion? How does this universe have color with asteroids made out of land? You do know how light and prisms funtion in a frozen universe? Funny how mercury looks like the moon and Venus looks like a sun? For you to have a sun , it means a reflection of light off a ice world or berg._. Can heat be increased via a magifying glass with a convergence of light? So i have two choices ._. Make the ozone bigger and freeze humanity as a warning to other worlds to not adopt lieing. Or fix the Ozone and roast everything alive as a warning to other worlds to not adopt lieing. Fixing obliterates._. Expanding leaves a everlasting impression._. Revenge by the Oz zone._. Trial by Fire or ice._. I choose ice. Judgement day for a world of liars._.

Very, very interesting documentary. I really love that a narrator was used instead of having to read subtitles. I look forward to watching more of your shows now that I subscribed to your channel. Again, I must say I love that a narrator was used . Subtitles ruin the watching experience in my opinion.

This is a great video. We appreciate all the work that went into its creation. If you get anything from this video, the most important bit of information is this: The earth "will" receive another asteroid hit of major consequences with the only remaining question of "when" it will happen. The human experience here on earth is an extremely minuscule part of time in our universe. The universe is billions of years old, we have only existed for less than a tiny, tiny fraction of a second as part of it. What that means is there are far more things we don't know about our universe than what we do know.

why not just put a tracking device on each asteroid just to make sure it doesnt move into another orbit that gets closer to earth. so we know for sure how it is moving. then create a plan B to make it miss earth. this is scary to be thinking about this kinda things.

I don’t yet understand how comets could possibly bring all of Earth’s water? Even without an atmosphere to destroy them, there’s still intense heat, the impact, how could enough water remain? Chemistry of acids & bases to get salty water seems more plausible. Unless that’s what they meant? I need to attend a lecture

we basically all are terrified by these asteroids, and we have tried to choose the remedies on these humanity killer asteroids , and at one time we have option of using thermo nuclear bombs, which need to carry in safe chambers of unmanned space ships. a series of bombs should be fired at asteroid. But at the same time we have to think of that divine power who gave us chances to reach at an evolutionery stage where we can start to know , that divine power

Nothing on the show or in the comments about the Carolina Bays or The Younger Dryas Impact Theory! Earth was bombarded just under thirteen thousand years ago wherein many megafauna and the Clovis people of North America were driven to extinction. This catastrophic event is where the fire from the sky and flood stories of mythology came from and are commemorated universally today by traditions that the vast majority of people do not understand such as Ancestor Worship, The Bon Festival, The Festival of the Dead, Halloween, etc... Plus where the ubiquitous End of the World idea came from, yet spin-doctored from the past event to prophesy.

The impact of an asteroid/meteor a half a kilometer in diameter is just not capable of extinguishing/causing the extinction of the human species, which this documentary goes into some detail about. The asteroid that `killed off` the dinosaurs was, approximately, ten kilometers in diameter and the dinosaurs weren't killed off; they evolved. Most of those species that are alive today, whose ancestors were dinosaurs, are birds. This documentary is interesting, albeit scientifically inaccurate.
