Astra G Cabriolet Roof latch fix

The roof latches at the front of these often break because it's just weak plastic.
Here's my easy to do fix. Feel free to post questions if you have any.

I followed your guide and have repaired the left-hand catch on my wife's 2003 Astra cabrio. Had to dremel a bit of the plastic away in order for the nut to go all the way down. But otherwise followed your steps. Removing and replacing the screws holding the inner lining in place was a bit fiddly. Taking it slowly and carefully took about 3 hours from start to finish and I didn't have to wait for any parts to be shipped from an eBay parts supplier.

Thanks for the vid Josh. I'm having the same issue in that, the roof is jammed shut and when I wind the release screw it comes out completely but doesn't release the roof. If anyone knows a workaround for this (other than butchering the interior trim piece) it would be greatly appreciated.

Am trying to fit the 1.7 dti into my my astra coupe I have all the wiring loom out and engine out is the wiring behind the dash the same as the 1.7 dti astra

Hi mate. Check out this detailed guide, they explain it better than I could. I broke a tube back into the container and the hood does not close how I can close it until I fix it

How did you remove the plastic trim to expose the motor. Having trouble with this one

Hi mate. Check out this detailed guide: TLDR there are a bunch of screws you can access from the cabin side of the roof, but then you need to get the roof a bit open to remove some screws that are accessible between the two layers of the roof. Hey - you're going to need to unwind it manually - there's an allen key slot I think at the centre of the plastic trim up top, takes forever to unwind but it will eventually

@@yoshirexthesecond thanks mate, done that but the passenger side must be completely broken and remains locked when the driver side releases

@@danielgregory8623 Bugger. Can't really think of a good way without damaging the trim, sorry can't be much help. Let me know how you go though.
