According to Suetonius, Augustus may have claimed Capricorn as his birth sign (not as his rising sign) for the use of an astronomer named Theogenes after initially refusing to give his correct birthday. But the story sounds to me like it may be a retrofit to explain the discrepancy. I haven't found any contemporary evidence Augustus ever claimed it as his ascendant, or that anyone ever claimed it for him. I have, however, seen coins showing the comet's position in relation to Capricorn.

FYI The Japanese word for the “ Pleiades “ is “ Subaru”. That’s why they have the Pleiades as part of their logo of their cars. The six stars represent the six companies that joined together to form Fuji Heavy Industries that produce Subaru cars. BTW I live in Asia and I guess they liked stars in their names and Audrey Hepburn. I live 30 meters away from Audrey Hepburn beauty salon and my favorited coffee shop 50 meters away has half a dozen paint by number paintings from photos of Audrey. I love her too but to Asians Inthink she represents the epitome of feminine beauty. Also getting back to stars Samsung means “ Three Stars” which was the original logo. LG is short for Lucky Goldstar. You can’t get better than that. There are spin-off GS grocery stars which is short for Goldstar a division of LG chaebol. I am thinking of changing my name to Audrey Triple Lucky Goldstar Hepburn. That ought to do it.

Where did you hear that? The Romans were one of the most overtly superstitious societies to ever exist. Every aspect of their daily lives was religious and/or ritualistic in some capacity. They would regularly cast curses on neighbors and make offerings to local nymphs for protection. You couldn't walk from your house to the local veggie market in ancient Rome without uttering a few incantations for safe passage. It was kind of insane.

@@toldinstone I think that they were right in that observation, astrology is no superstition. Look into electromagnetic lights effects on the bodies hormones, such as blue/white light from the moon decreasing melatonin (this increases estrogen uptake by extension), and sunlight increasing testosterone. And consider the moon/sun association with astrological conceptions of femininity/masculinity. I hypothesize that the electromagnetic frequencies/light coming off of the solar bodies and stars effects the biology of humanity, all animals, and the global ecosystem. In a time where people experienced much more direct exposure from the light radiating from solar bodies and stars, the effects would have been more potent on humans, which would effectively explain why many including myself have anecdotally observed many patterns that match up, yet science cannot find objective evidence. We live in an era where we've surrounded ourselves with EMF signals and sources of visible light, therefore the effects wouldn't be as easily measured in the modern day. We should be careful to dismiss the ancient sciences, along with thousands of years of research simply because our society is more technologically advanced, with every advancement there are drawbacks, and with knowledge comes arrogance. I only seek to spread information, as I feel our academic community has eagerly dismissed these things too easily, without questioning our own approaches in favor of materialist objectivity, we may be a bit in over our heads as a society. I hope this has been a little eye opening for you. Manly P. Hall is a great source for learning more of this sort of thing, if you're interested =).

Speaking of astrology, the first science fiction story ever written, known as "A True Story", tells the story of some soldiers who fight in space against giant spiders. You can see how some ideas like astrology can get very "sticky", when there are obvious ways that wishful thinking or paranoia could stand in for actual facts in people's minds, this would cover most superstitions and even similar things like prejudices and conspiracies. And I guarantee the most wealthy and powerful people had (and still have) a greater amount of these beliefs, because there are fewer things to keep their weirdest ideas in check.

Though I have enjoyed your videos in the past and am subscribed, this one fell very short of the mark. I specialize in astrology and its transmission between cultures. There are very strong arguments that astrology originated in India not Mesopotamia. But since this episode was about astrology and Rome I suggest that you get a copy of "Cramer, H.F. Astrology in Roman Law and Politics. The American Philosophical Society, 1954." then you will be better armed to revisit this topic and get it right. For one thing astrology wasn't invented in Alexandria around 180 BC but rather it came to the Greeks in Rhodes around 290BC when the Babylonia astrologer Berossus stated a school of astrology there from which it spread all over Greece and later Rome. It was in Rhodes that Tiberius learned astrology from Thrasyllus of Mendes who became Tiberius' court astrologer. Thrasyllus' son Balbilus was court astrologer to Claudius, Nero, and Vespasian. You may want to consider deleting this video and do an updated versiion after reading the text by Cramer.

This is incorrect. The Romans did not invent astrology. They acquired what we call "Western Astrology" from the Greeks. Astrology was first developed in Bactria long before Rome was founded. Before Rome was ever founded, the Vedics from India traveled to Bactria and learned their astrological religion, fused it with their indigenous astrology and developed what is now known as Vedic Astrology which uses the sidereal zodiac. Simultaneously, the Greeks traveled to Bactria and also learned the Bactrian astrological also but they used the inaccurate calculation of the sky known as the Tropical Zodiac. The Romans did not invent nor did they even further develop astrology. Like many other aspects of Roman society, the Romans simply used the Greek version of what we now call "Western (tropical zodiac) Astrology." Everything in this video is accurate but has nothing to do with inventing or even developing astrology...

I've never heard an astrologer put it this way but as a modest proposal, what if instead of seeing the stars as effecting our lives, we saw them as as being like arms on a clock. When the hour hand touches one, it doesn't change us. It tells us what time of day it is and what's likely to happen,
@Kholdaimon
@Kholdaimon Жыл бұрын
You can put it anyway you want, it is still all nonsense... The stars have no effect on our lives nor do they tell us anything about what is about to happen to us, unless we see one explode nearby in a supernova and then we we will know that very shortly after we might have another mass-extinction event on our planet and your chance to survive it still has nothing to do with your star-sign... ;-)

@@Kholdaimon actually there's a star right next to us with massive effect on global climate and even things like animal migrations and physical/mental health. I doubt that there's any basis in distant stars affecting Earth much but the planets do indeed connect to the sun via flux tubes which facilitate particle and energy transfer in both directions. you can actually see a good visual representation of these flux tubes if you look up NASA's study on the ones between Jupiter and its Moon Io.

Exactly right, astrology is really about keeping track of strategic time, as a clock keeps track of mere hours. Nobody lives for more than three turns of Saturn.

Time, date & location of birth are important factors if you want to account for other planets aspecting your sun placement. The two noteworthy people I have listed in 25 leo are hugh hefner & gregori rasputin. However these placements aren't using the sun but rather another mathematical technique that requires the time you're born to produce a legacy reading.

This highlights only the weirdest and most ridiculous parts of astrology and doesn't, like great modern scholars such as Henry Corbin, show the great depth and wisdom with the earth that ancient astrology had. The video just leaves you to laugh off astrology as a geocentric superstition of the past and move on without appreciating the incredible value the astrological tradition can bring to our daily lives. I'm not saying follow tiktok astrology, which I have no idea if it's valid or not, but understand the historical tradition in its true roots. A modernist attitude can limit one from appreciating the full depths of human wisdom.

I've studied astrology for over a decade, yet there's always new discoveries you can make with it. People also don't appreciate how difficult it was to practice astrology in ancient times. You had to make your own observations, star catalog, and do your own calculations with spherical coordinates, just to generate the simplest chart. Modern computerized chart drawing software is enormously sophisticated. You can use it to look for patterns in ways that would have been impossible in antiquity. I always find it amusing when people try to debunk astrology. I don't use it out of superstition. I use it because it consistently provides accurate predictive modeling about the future. For people wondering about what the actual mechanism behind astrology, it's explained in Hermetic Law of Correspondence (As above, so below. As within, so without).

1:36 The Babylonian's civilization is really fascinating and underrated, to be honest. It's amazing how incredibly advanced and unique (and even alien in a certain way) that civilization was. It's a pity that everything fell apart the moment they enslaved the Jews and destroyed Jerusalem, since the only thing left to them after suffering the Wrath of God was a mad King and two conquerors (one Persian and one Macedonian) who converted the famous city into their war trophy

Interesting that the ancients had a geocentric view. There is quite a bit of compelling modern scientific evidence for it that the heliocentric view cannot repudiate. If you are serious about taking a deep dive into astronomy, I suggest Dr. Robert Sungenis' books and KZfaq: Robert Sungenis on Geocentrism and the Principle. I attended a talk by him and a hard line skeptic hammered Sungenis with questions for 2 hours. By the end the guy had softened up quite a bit toward the geocentric view. Consider both sides!

@@TesterAnimal1 the dog who is loyal & follows you around is essentially your shadow, the back, what holds up your spine, the skeleton framework, ie. The matrix an enclosure or prison so to speak. Dog spelled backwards is God. We find the root contraction of the word Allah (ie el-ella) to sound like he-she to native spanish speakers denoting this conception that you can not be the paradoxical originator if you do not have both principles within your nature. Even before exiting your mothers womb you consist of both before developing one over the other. Returning back to that state is physically impossible as the hidden gods or shadows of time would have us believe since their own dense layer emits darkness & ignorance. Before the dark ages there was the wood age where the carpenters of the world come from such as christ. They live in agartha or the inner earth. The stone masons do wear their names proudly. Whether its goldstein or silverstein. Stein in german means stone
