It's real. Always has been. That's where the term lunatic comes from. I've got firemen and first responders and hospitalists all over my family and friends and none of them are superstitious but they will all say that the full moon always is more crazy and tons more calls and problems. The full moon dies impact things, but that doesn't mean superstitions are real.

it's the same for when I worked fast food -- but only it was true. I worked at Skyline so every full moon there were angry customers threatening our servers and staff, tons of orders over $200, crazy amounts of carry outs, and our regular homeless guy spraying water on our windows with a squirt gun. It was crazy.

I went to a small midwestern college, and one of my friends was the editor of the newspaper. She wasn’t into astrology. She also wrote the astrology section and would absolutely just make stuff up. Some of my favorites were telling certain signs to avoid spicy food on certain days

In 1999, I was taking community college night classes and one was World Religions; a once a week, 3hr class. The professor started each class by asking who wanted their daily Horoscope read. He read from the same newspaper to be consistent. Most people said that they related to all or the majority of the things he read. On the last day of the class, right before we took our final, he asked who wanted the final Horoscope reading. He also told us that after someone volunteered each week and gave their sign, HE PURPOSEFULLY READ A DIFFERENT ONE. Still love this lesson to this day. His point was not to say that it was rubbish, but that all the different religions of the world have deeply held, sacred beliefs that guide them in their own lives. If one person finds comfort in the words of the Bible, another the Qur'an, still others from Confucius... etc.... Astrology is just another belief that guides people. Cheers.

I regard the tenets of Paracelsus as pernicious and nothing more than a silly conceit obtaining credulity of the foolish." However, Queen Elizabeth I, was a big believer, and her trusted advisor and very interesting character was John Dee, her court astrologer, scientist, doctor, and spy. He signed himself 007, the 00 being the Queen's eyes, and 7 being an alchemist's lucky number.

I just heard about that Sylvia woman the other day. Rebecca Watson was talking about how she told a woman whose daughter had been abducted that her daughter was dead. Meanwhile, the daughter - very much not dead - was watching the show from where she and two other young women were being held by their captor. The daughter also got to hear the newscast where they reported on her mother's death shortly thereafter.

Actually the gravitational pull is stronger when the moon, the earth, and the sun line up, when we see a full moon or a new moon. Then we get the higher high tides, called spring tides. If you don't believe me, a random poster on the internet, you can confirm this with NASA.

In any case negligible, as the pull from the earth is a thousand times larger than that of the sun or 100k times larger than the pulling from the moon. A large volume of water (lake Baikal) pulls you comparably to the moon (about half) if you're close to it (just did the math 🤓)

@@JuanDavidOrjuelaNo. The strongest tides occur when the moon, earth and sun align, the order moon-earth-sun and earth - moon - sun do not matter that much. Lowest tides occur when the moon is at a 90 degree angle compared to the earth-sun axis. You can Google why, but trust me, I'm a physicist.

I appreciate you both for bringing this topic to light... I've had 3 dates now where people walked out of the restaurant moments after asking about my birthday or astrology... Like we already ordered food and everything. I've also had people tell me that my astrology is a red flag, ask if I want to end the date early since we're incompatible because "I'm only compatible with [astrology sign], [astrology sign], [astrology sign]" I got to the point that I put it in my profile on dating apps so that people just wouldn't message me if it's a problem. Like I try to be a nice person but when the topic of astrology comes up, I'm never told anything good about myself, I'm made out to be some kind of villain to society by someone I just met.

As someone who likes Astrology, I have to say that anyone who only asks and only bases themselves on the Sun Sign knows *shit* about Astrology. That's it, that's my take. Oh, and you are absolutely right about people who will justify their bad behaviors on their sign. I would even go as far as saying that those people don't really like Astrology, they just learned about it *specifically* so they could justify being assholes.
