@@Gameprojordan bunkers also fail. air filters have to be cleaned and replaced or otherwise a source of oxygen and co2 scrubbers have to be provided, power has to be supplied and food has to be grown. we were still not able to make an isolated biosphere work to provide enough sustenance while maintaining internal air quality, and even if we were able to supply those all the major biosphere studies were made while ignoring the power issue since in most cases these were built as concepts to be used in outer space so power was usually provided by an abundant outside source. without sun or wind the only thing you could have would be either geothermal or nuclear which would impossible to sustain without massive amounts of water and/or maintenance. it's theoretically possible for a 5th generation nuclear powerplant to run for 100 years straight at minimum output (enough for a small town with low consumption needs) if their reactor had been filled recently but even if that were possible that level of pollution would take waaaaay more than 100 years to solve itself... we're talking about total ecossystem colapse...even without it we'll take around 1000 years for the effects of global warming to stop being felt on earth as is now imagine a full poop cloud covering all the earth and killing all life.we'd need to survive thousands of years underground. there's no way we can achieve that with our current technological level. people might survive at first but we'd be extinct in a few hundred years at most due to medical issues and lack of supplies.

They definitely fail to start over, those astronauts. There's only five of them on the Aether - the ship that was going to Jupiter's moon - and five people is not enough to repopulate. A population of 50 is the theoretical minimum; but you'd need something closer to 500 in reality.

When you have such a massive amount of water that's just to be expected. But the reason trees have so much talk around them is due to an additional benefit. A sapling while growing will take a huuuuge amount of co2 from the atmosphere and imprision it in the form of organic matter. When fully grown this amount becomes much less significant but once they die most of that carbon gets stuck in the soil for a long, long time (mainly because cellulose and similar compounds are very difficult to decompose) while in water algae are more likely to decompose (after dying or being eaten) and the carbon bubbles up and back to the atmosphere (not all but most of it due to its low solubility in water). There's no side effect of overplanting trees in the long term while overgrowing algae has been known to destroy aquatic ecossystems and contribute to global warming as their anaerobic decomposition (because oxygen also has low solubility in water) releases methane (and other gases... Sulphur compounds released from underwater pockets is also a huge problem) which is a more powerful greenhouse gas than co2 (so much so in fact that its better for the environment to burn it than it is to release it as is).

@@evanroberts2771 The grail is useless, because it is only effective while near that specific room. And the grail cannot leave the temple, because the moment it leaves, the temple (or maybe the mountain) will collapse due to the curse, which nobody knew about (you only get one chance, and the moment it is tried, the temple collapses). The only way to make the grail useful is if anyone knew about the curse beforehand (which nobody did). If so, then sick people can simply use the grail as the immovable hospital.

Clearly the survivors didn't need the algae then because at the end of the movie earth's atmosphere was clear of any toxic fog and survivors was on the radio searching for other human survivors, ikarus was not needed because humans didn't run out of oxygen and must of had algae growing in the bunkers. My only problem was that the 300 survivors sounded pretty desperate for the algae saying they're oxygen would soon run out, so how did humanity survive when they never sent the algae down

I mean she kinda makes logical sense. It’s very clear that humanity is the reason why the world is ending. Even if she decided to save humanity it wouldn’t do anything because humanity will still continue making the same mistake and there will still be greedy, power hungry people. So letting the whole population die is kind of a mercy since there’s no point in saving humanity anyway.

They only have so much supplies. What's the point of saving anyone if they're just gonna die of starvation a week later? Sharing isn't an excuse, since now everyone will die a week later. There's no magic solution. Either someone else dies, or all of them dies. If anything, she made the wrong decision to not send the ship down. Humans aren't the only ones that are gonna suffer from that fog. Many animals and trees that could've survived went extinct because she was too pissy about people. So in essence, she's not really better than the people she loathed.
