Explore and reshape distant worlds! Astroneer is set during a 25th century gold rush where players must explore the frontiers of outer space, risking their lives in harsh environments for the chance of striking it rich.

Astroneer is developed by System Era Softworks, based in Seattle Washington, with members teleworking from like Toronto and Salt Lake City. I actually dont use platforms to store my stuff. I make a huge pit, give it a roof then throw my stuff in it, hoping the rng gods dont sweep it all under the world hahah.

steel is iron, carbon, and argon. all three of these resources are available together on glacio (the tundra planet), so it easy to build a base entirely of platform C's, extra Large platforms, and large storage units on the tundra planet.

Was this made before it, or did you forget to include extra large platform C? Personal favorite of mine; I love using it to automate the soil to scrap process. By soil to scrap I mean turning soil into resin, into medium storages, then to scrap (1 soil canister = 1 scrap). It goes a lot faster when it’s all on one platform

Thanks again for a direct and clear explanation of things. I’ve been playing a couple years and got a few new ideas. I wish EVERY game had explanations like yours. Those mad, so called tutorials where the guy runs around at top speed, squeaking insane chatter are so useless.

the xlarge storage honestly seems like a total waste of time and space to me, considering you can get one more storage slot by stacking a large storage full of mediums (and it takes up half the space)

@@OneLastMidnight Mounted on the octagonal platform it does look like it'd be a cool central power hub, could be a neat home for all the small wind, solar, and batteries you find while out scavenging

if it's not on glacio ( tundra planet), i would agree as the steel is harder to make, but if building a large base on tundra, the iron is as abundant on the surface there as there is resin on the terran planet, and it has argon as it's only resource making it an excellent steel factory planet. lastly, i have come to understand that the extra large storage can be used on large rovers, which is likely where the actual function is directed.

Extra large platform has 31 slots but a large storage with full of medium storage has 32 slots and it take half space like you said

@@sametozyigit7123 one slot really isn't that much of a gain. to really make it stick out more, you need the other 2 medium storage. but with all that said, you need 15 resin and 3 ceramic for that. obviously, that is the only thing you can build outside the tundra planet. however, steel and iron are easily made on tundra, making the exl more accessible there.

Nice vid! What is the best way to move around resources? I find it a pain in the but going back and forth constantly instead of exploring more. Is it possible to put the extra large storage on a vehicle?

I am currently using the extra large platform on my large rover trailer, packed with canisters for soil to return to the base with. That soil becomes wind turbines to then scrap.

There shouldn't be. Is something blocking the way? The ghost image will be reddish if something is blocking it. Including yourself.

True, but if you are playing multi-player someone will need to move the shuttle before someone else can land.

I haven't bothered with it and it's been no problem. I'll probably unlock it eventually but early on there doesn't seem to be much point. When I land on a new planet the first thing I do is drop a beacon before I build anything so I can find it later on.

@@jamesonweimann4720 You drag it off your backpack and put it onto the storage. There isn't an automatic way to do it, the process is manual.

A storage that can not be put on vehicles or next to machines seems utterly useless to me. The whole point of them is that you don't have to pluck off single items anymore, you just move the entire storage.
