The She Hulk needed a BIOS update and it had been some time since showing you how to do it on a ASUS platform, so here it is. This procedure will work for most any of the current and older ASUS MB's. with the modern UEFI layout shown in this video.

You only need the latest BIOS unless stated in the description section for each BIOS which in that case update to that BIOS first then to the latest

@@PlanetKryos Cheers, After hours of trying different things to update the bios, I learnt I need an old USB stick. I didn't have one. So I found a 17 years old SD memory card and put it in a SD reader. BINGO! Bios recognized the format and start reading it with ease. Just to let you know, SD card also works.

Yeah but not everyone has a SD card reader on thieir PC. But glad it worked. You don't need a old usb stick just one less than 16GB and formatted in Fat32

You only need to rename it if you are doing a bios flashback l. meaning updating the bios without a cpu and ram if your Motherboard supports it.

Tip. If so happen that it’s keeps booting back to the bios to the ez-flash screen. It means it was done incorrectly. Fix is to first take out the CMOS battery for 30 seconds and put back in and the flash the update again. I just updated my bios last week and ran into this problem. Asus support nor tech support from the company that build my pc knew this. After spending hours and hours with them with no help. I finally decided to try flash the bios again and it work.

Good stuff, seems easy enough. But im still not understanding what the deal with the Management Engine comes in? .. Is it an optional update?, On the Asus BIOS download page it seems like it wants it to be updated. Is that done before or after the BIOS has been updated?

Yes they want you to keep it up to date for security reasons. But you don't have to. It is another chip that sits on the MB. It runs some stuff as it boots.

Great video! Question regarding older ASUS motherboard Bios update. If you have never updated the BIOS and there are 15 newer updates available.....Not sure about jumping that many steps? There is no information on the motherboard Bios download page regarding this, and after contacted ASUS support, getting mixed advice. Some suggesting to update in 5 increments at a time. Is it worth the risk to update to the latest Bios on the older PC?

Audio has nothing that same as a BIOS update. Entirely different

Awesome video. But still not sure why go through all the extra steps. Download the most recent BIOS, burn it to the usb after you change the name, restart the PC and boot into bios. Way faster than having to search windows for recovery, then do all the stuff to get into BIOS. Just curious why the extra steps.

Is there a way to boot to windows from ezflash utility? After bios update it does not want to do the ME update and Im getting the "selected file is not a proper bios file".... im stuck on that screen

Not all updates will include ME. If the bios updated, just exit. Or, like I do, load optimize setting and then exit. I will boot into Windows automatically.

Yo i have the same Z690 formula and im planning to put an 13900ks to it. So do i need to update the bios to it? When i go to the ASUS website for the updates it has no update for 13 gen intel.

Look at the release notes for each bios, it will tell you when it supports 13gen

Hi bro, I have asus rog strix b550f(no WiFi no WiFi ii ) and he have a 2021 bios so I won't to upgrade it, but I need to know if I can use bios-flash if my uptading messed up I men the bios get corrupted ?

Not sure if I understand you correctly but if your MB supports bios flash feature than you can do it that way. I normally like doing it only through the BIOS amd with a UPS.

The BIOS Update did it for me sometimes. But yes I normally download it separately.

Need more infor for that question. If you have a native motherboard like 700 series MB, then all good. You can install latest bios.

I have 8 updates to get to the newest one and the newest on says Improved system compatibility. so, do I have to download the rest before this one? I'm not really understanding so if there's any way, I may be able to get some help with this that would be amazing. I just want to get the best performance possible and if I have to upgrade after that then that's fine and I will know what to do in the future to update bios.

99% of the time just download and grab the latest BIOS. No need to install everyone up to that one. It will come with all the fixes with the latest that each leading BIOS update had. On on the rare occasion you will have to update to a specific bios before you can update to the latest bios it's a very rare thing just read all the notes or release notes that come with each bios and that will tell you if you do not see something that says you need to do that then you are fine going with the absolute latest bios

@@PlanetKryos and yes ik you had already went over this in the video, I just want to make sure I don't ruin this thing and make it run way smoother. ik a good amount about computers but not so much about the super in depth stuff like bios and hardware component files.

It is not really a safe or not thing butt more of a bios readability thing. So you can try it and it the biso will read it then you are good. Otherwise yes get a 16GB or smaller. In either case you are flashing the BIOS and updating it. BIOS flashback is when your update it without a cpu, ram or storage given your motherboard supports doing it this way. Updating it the regular way is going through the BIOS to update it. Of course this requires cpu ram but no storage

Unless you need to, i always go through the BIOS to updat it. Sometimes you need to flqshback because the current bios does not support the new cpu.

@@PlanetKryos im sorry for all these questions cuz im noob at pc stuff hhhh but the mobo im going to buy is asus rog strix b550-f gaming (No wifi) and cpu r5 5600x i asked the seller and he told me the mobo comes already compatible with the cpu so should i do a bios flashback or no and the bios flashback depends only on cpu or on other things

If it works leave it alone if you are not confortable udating it. Seek out someone to do it for you.

I only suggest using a smaller one because people with older motherboards support different filing systems which are larger Drive would not work so what you need to do is try it and see if it works

Question: Why not just launch ASUS's ArmoryCreate, update the bios while in windows, and reboot?

You certainly can do that but There are a few reasons not to. 1. Not everyone wants to install SW to update there PC. 2. It is not as reliable to do it that way in my experience. 3. Anyone can follow these steps with a different MB manufacturer and get by. Like I said. 4. I have seen it where it will not get the latest bios version too.

@@PlanetKryos Except that you're specifically dealing with an ASUS motherboard here, and a particularly NEW one at that. Zero reason to not use the utilities provided to the end-user created for the sole purpose of making any changes as effortless as possible. The amount of time it takes to download the software and use it is less than the runtime of half your video. Not trying to be rude, just pointing out a fairly large hole in your logic.

I updated my BIOS and now when my pc boots it does some memory testing and shows code 15 (pre-memory system agent initialization is started). The pc still runs fine but takes awhile to boot up and I don’t know how to fix it.

Ok sounds like either a RAM issue or CPU issue. Try boot with less RAM. Take one module out at a time and see if issue still there. Then make sure you move the last module to a different slot. What RAM and MB do you have?

@@PlanetKryos I have the ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME EATX and DDR5-6000 CL30-40-40-96 1.40V 64GB (2x32GB. Everything works fine and maybe the memory testing is just normal I really dont know but I just feels like it shouldn't take that long to boot/restart.

Ok. I think there is a bios option to check memory or train memory everytime it boots. I don't remember where it is. Make sure you have fast boot enabled in the bios
