Asus C204E Chromebook Charge Port Replacement

Жыл бұрынSuccessfully fixed about 10 of these now, always a fun little soldering repair to do. The Asus C204E Chromebook has a soldered on type-C charge port, so here's a quick little video of the desoldering and re-soldering process of changing out the new port.

Could you link to a kit off Amazon that has everything I need to make this repair? Specifically what flux/liquid you use? Thanks

Did you use only flux before installing the new port or was it a solder paste? Or did you put solder on the connecting points before putting the new port?

Always use flux, I re-tin the pads/pins on the board before installing the new port, and then put flux on the solder points and heat it up from below and drop the new port in and hold it in place while it cools down

Is the replacement part specific to this model Asus or are they generic? And what heater are you using to desolder/resolder? THanks!

Specific to the model. I personally use a atten at-862D hot air station and a SMTMax 202D soldering iron

@@promod1179 temps can vary depending on the hot air station you use. Typically 350-430C will be sufficient depending on what you’re working on.
