The problem is most likely that your monitor's HDMI port is TMDS instead of FRL, as LG tends to skimp on HDMI ports for monitors with resolutions below UHD (3840 x 2160). While the RoG Strix G16 does come with HDMI 2.1 with FRL, your monitor most likely doesn't. With only HDMI 2.1 with TMDS (i.e. what used to be called HDMI 2.0), you are limited to 100Hz at 8-bit color and 85Hz at 10-bit color at UWQHD (3440 x 1440) resolution if I remember correctly. Connecting DisplayPort (or USB-C with DP alt mode) to HDMI requires an active signal converter, which can cause all kinds of problems (aside from the TMDS HDMI port simply not having sufficient bandwidth no matter what you do). What you want to do is to use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable for a direct DP-to-DP connection from laptop to monitor. I suggest using the USB-C 3.2 port on the RoG Strix G16 instead of the Thunderbolt 4 port. Integrated mobile chipsets for both Intel and AMD require USB-C ports to be connected to the integrated graphics to get PCIe tunneling, which means that Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 ports on laptops are (almost) always connected to the integrated graphics (the "almost" exception being Intel HX "mobile" processors from two generations ago, where they said fuck it and just slapped desktop processors with discrete chipsets in laptops). The signal not having to pass through the integrated graphics will give you better performance.

One thing I forget to mention is that, if you do decide to maximize FPS by using the USB-C 3.2 port, then you need to disable Advanced Optimus, otherwise the external monitor will glitch when Advanced Optimus toggles to integrated graphics (Advanced Optimus is a troll hack of a solution, but that's a story for another time). Using the Thunderbolt 4 port is a lot less headache. Some people will jump through every hoop there is to squeeze a few more FPS out of their machines. That's why ASUS generally leaves Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 off of at least one USB-C port on their gaming laptops as the designated direct-to-discrete-GPU DP alt mode port. ASUS finally adding Advanced Optimus to their 2023 gaming laptops is no doubt going to cause a whole lot of confusion in combination with these ports.

@@IvanNikolenko it's not a problem, NVIDIA designed it this way. You will hit a voltage limit before reaching the full wattage. You do reach the max boost clocks. You could think of them as being more efficient, they need 100W to reach the same performance as 140W last gen graphics. Nvidia just sucks or doesn't care about marketing their stuff for gamers so they don't explain this.

If you choose 2K 240Hz model it's fine
