Despite India not walking in step with the US on sanctions against Russia, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister underlined the importance of Indo-US relations.
“Our collaboration has grown well beyond the bilateral scope and has had an impact on global issues, whether it is the Covid challenge, taking climate action, ensuring maritime or securing critical technology. What India and the US do together will make a difference,” said Jaishankar in his opening remarks at the fourth Indo-US “two-plus-two” meeting in Washington on Monday, attended by the Foreign and Defence Ministers of both countries.
Charting the progress in bilateral ties, the EAM referred to the $160 billion trade account, two lakh Indian students in the US, highest recorded investment levels and the rapidly growing energy trade to state that the “yardsticks to measure our growing closeness tell their own story”.
In a signal of greater strategic proximity, India and the US inked a pact to share information on space activities during the 2+2 meeting. The Space Situational Awareness memorandum of understanding (MoU) aims to protect the satellites of the two countries.

Be very cautious U.S. is all about military actions and arms sales. Probably heard peace five times or less from U.S., but mentioned arms and security too many times to count, very agressive politics. Climate change issues in the U.S., government not shifting any adminatrative programs to decrease pollution in any substantially relevant way. For example, U.S. has gigantic military complex which pollutes as much as 160 countries. On the other hand, asks citizens to purchase alternative energy vehicles, my guess is to offset the military pollution. As the world is aware these types of vehicles are extremely expensive. U.S. top 20% of earners hold much of the wealth in our population. U.S. has the worse income inequality of any developed nation. U.S. government only mention of China-Russia peace initiative presented during the 2022 Winter Olympics was: "5,000 words and never said Ukraine once". How sad, people want peace, but government wants never ending war and the machinations of military readiness that is extremely broad and expensive. U.S. proposed 2023 budget is $773B Military Industrial Complex and $6B for NATO. U.S infrastructure is 50-60 years old and needs substantial repair or replacement. Housing is short 500,000 units. Debt is $30T. Bouncing around earth like there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Making concessions and/or grants to foreign lands harms the U.S. taxpayers domestic agenda. We have become stuck in a plutocracy governing body that spends copious amounts on military and government workforce-local, state, and federal. I do not begrudge any nation or foreign citizen to be lifted up through trade, joint projects, etc. What I do begrudge is it is much less expensive in dollars and pollutant generation to take a diplomatic and peaceful process with a respectful dialogue towards all nation-states, than continually buy weapons. This world will never be totally democratic and all nations must accept that truth. Compromise needs to be a top priority going forward in global exchanges. There are three global powers on earth now. All citizens of the world should demand negotiations for some semblance of peace world-wide as soon as possible. To stop wars and the destruction, death, famine, dislocation and encourage humane treatment of every person.

EAM of India is doing an excellent job. The positive thing is - both India and US understand the importance of future partnership. Despite initial hiccups there is a visible continuous progress in the stronger bonding. With mutual respect and working on areas of mutual interests - both democracies can work together to make the world a better place.

I hope US will accept and respect that India have its own geopolitical strategy for promoting and safeguarding its own national interest & security. I hope US will graciously accept the rising India, as another equal superpower & partner, in the 21st century .... and I hope that India's position and acceptance of a multipolar (instead of a unipolar) world order in the 21st century and beyond does not warrant US to adopt containment policy or any covert destabilizing activities (against the rise of India) in order to maintain its own American Exceptionalism and American authoritarian democracy that empowers the US govt to be the accuser, the prosecutor and the judge ( "3-in-1" democratic authoritarianism) for the purpose of sanctioning or instigating a regime change in any country (whenever US govt deemed appropriate and in accordance with its own double-standard definitions of freedom & human rights violations).

This is exactly why the world is what it is today! Best diplomat is the one who is best in blowing dust into the eyes of others. The total monthly energy imports might be less than Europe's imports for an afternoon - True. But the point is that how much you have increased it as a percentage which I am afraid Mr. Jaishankar is manyfold in case of India. This shows the intent and that's backstabbing ukraine and the west.

US pour the oil into the flames by selling or supporting weapons worth of $800 million to Ukraine meanwhile make India to produce medicine to support world. What a master piece drama by US politicians. If US politicians can't forcefully make India to take weapons in our hands, then make them to tend the wound atleast by taking medicine box in hands. Anyhow you ( INDIA ) need to be part of our ( US ) beef with RUSSIA 🤣🤣. India will tend the wounds even if it's an enemy. But don't drag India into this war. And clearly Don't say we back stabbed you. Actually it's vise versa. Think properly.

Jaishankar looks like he has been slapped in the face, which he has. If the US has publicly declared its concerns on "human rights" in presence of the visiting two ministers( a first), one can conclude how the meeting went. Shameful why it was not countered or taken up. When the US talks about 'trade volumes' or 'student visas' or 'Indian American contributions' , it is highlighting what the stakes are.

US raising issues about human rights? They funded terrorism when it served their interests, the taliban is one of many such examples. They bombed hiroshima and Nagasaki when there was no military threat from Japan. They bombed those cities because japan was supplying goods in the US markets at cheaper prices and thus posed a threat to American companies. And they want to lecture the world about human rights. You might want to think on that.
