Allie Sherlock is already a big name, although I’ve only now been introduced to her. There is a similar studio official video of Allie Sherlock singing this song, which would have been a true comparison to Lucy’s version. I’ve now given it a good listen, and comparing this to Lucy’s I actually now consider Lucy to be a much better singer. 🎙

Allie seems a good singer also so I’m not knocking her and respect to you, and I wish Allie all the best and success and there are enough ears for both. It’s not that I don’t like Allie, just if I had to choose one it would be Lucy. Noted Allie also plays guitar. Lucy won’t be lip syncing and one can tell if they are not singing, however I doubt that this seen is the actual recording used. Which is normal for all including Allie. It’s a video and it will be mixed, just like Allie’s studio. Allie also has a similar studio video which should have been the correct comparison, because I give more credit to Allie’s live performance and more so outside in winter weather. But I’ve seen Lucy perform outside in the winter weather and rain. Who knows if Allie uses auto-tune, so unfair to say that. Other than singing outside stood on a box in the street without a microphone, then it’s all enhanced even at concerts. Real live is of course best. Lucy is employed in the West End musical ‘Rosie’ so she will be singing live every week.

Thanks for the link. Another unknown ‘to me’ young female artist. Allie Sherlock has almost 6 million subscribers and her song here 1.3 million views, so she is the bigger name than Lucy Thomas. I’ve been living under a rock obviously. So I’ve now listened this several times and here Allie just sings and it’s the polished studio version. This would have been a much better comparison to have been done with Lucy’s. Especially without the added echos. So now well listened I actually preferred Allie’s outside live version to her studio official. For my taste Allie’s added too much ‘character’, and comparing this studio to Lucy’s studio I actually now consider Lucy to be a much better singer.

@@ChrisScott0 Our host Jeff must have chosen Allie's live version because that is what she is famous for. I agree live is different but better. Our host has an ear for sure. Numbers can be deceiving. You would have to check all the platforms. Perhaps Lucy does Facboof or one of all the others I don't use? Here is a KZfaq number Lucy doing Hallelujha has last I checked 37 million views. Lucy as Jeff says is more a crooner and does many of the classics. Pop is boss today and Allie hits more of those. Maybe Jeff as I did thought Allie’s live performance was better so used that to compare, but I think the link from @jeffkerr4861 was more appropriate as a truer comparison. But maybe that was a video that would block on KZfaq. Putri Ariani I already know, but I much prefer Lucy. I prefer clean, clear and boring, so I can sing along to. I just go with what my ears like. 👂☺👂 Jeff here has done many Lucy comparisons and I’ve not always preferred Lucy. Alan Walker’s Hero, he doesn’t even sing. But it is a great short pop song. The singer Sasha Sloan does sound nice but she is only a pop singer without range and could never compare to Lucy. I also listened I think the performance you meant with Putri singing. Well I actually loved it and Putri singing that was amazing adding quality vocals. I’ve added it to my playlist. Thanks! 👍 It flowed and suited her, however I’ve not liked her other more Lady Gaga style singing. I also checked out her new song Perfect Liar. Putri is talented no doubt, again great voice and interesting song and better than I’ve previously heard her. The Indonesian guy I’ve seen. He has a fabulous voice if he stuck to singing just as a man. Overall Lucy Thomas to me anyway is proving to be a remarkable talent, however there is room for other great singers in my music box. 🙂

I noticed all your Allie point outs, and I checked out her songs and Allie like Lucy has done many varied songs. Allie is very talented, plus she plays the guitar. Lucy doesn’t. Lucy has busked outside in British winter and sung outside in the cold rain, plus done pub gigs etc. But Lucy is now destined for bigger things - Rosie the musical, plus has performed billionaire concerts and sung for Cliff Richard’s private birthday party, so I doubt we’ll ever see Lucy sing down the pub again. Which for me is loss and I’ll have to go to London and watch her from afar. So you are right Lucy pumps out the studio versions for KZfaq - over 60 now and 2 this month, plus working on the musical, plus doing the private concerts singing other songs. Personally I think she should do more face to face public live performances to stay in touch, plus gain confidence. I wasn’t aware Allie has over 230 songs under her belt, and that’s a lot at her age. Lucy’s unofficially done around 80, but some of those are her own originals. She was the supporting act for OneRepublic on their European Tour in 2020 performing in Paris, London, and the Netherlands before COVID shut everything down ! She has performed at The Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg Germany, and also at the AO Area in Manchester for the Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebration last year ! A lot of folks sell Allie short because she busks and performs on the street, but what that has done for Allie and continues to do for her, is endear her to her almost 6 Million Fans World Wide on KZfaq and allows her to have that personal face to face connection with those lucky enough to catch her live on Grafton Street in Dublin ! Why I said it was an apples to oranges comparison between Allie and Lucy is for three or four reasons. First their choice of primary performance venue Allie on the street and Lucy in the studio ! Second is the music that they perform. Lucy primarily does Broadway tunes and ballads that are soft and sweet and her voice is beautiful for that and looks like she realizes this since she has decided to do a Broadway show . Where as Allie does soft and sweet but also many different styles of music ! Now there is that old saying a picture is worth a 1000 words so going to give you some videos that point out what I just said ! The first one is from 5 months ago Allie' s cover of " I Miss You " by Adele and she has a young man Marcos playing the cajon next to her. Pay attention to Allie belting out at 52 seconds in but Allie gives us a performance with a bit of attitude and her guitar playing definitely adds so much more to the performance ! Then there is Allie covering a new young artist Bailey Zimmerman from 2 months ago a country singer and she covers his song " Religiously " ! Then we get to have some fun with Allie around Halloween time dropped 3 weeks ago her cover of " Heart Break Hotel" by Elvis and she has a bunch of costumed dinosaurs behind her ! The last one is Allie's cover of Alicia Keys " Falling " from 3 months from her back yard and you definitely see the difference when an artist accompanies themselves on guitar it just adds so much more to the performance ! I love the end of this video when Allie doesn't talk to herself she sings to herself ! I recommend you check out Allie's channel she has so much content, covers of Metallica, Guns & Roses Olivia Rodrigo, Elvis, The Righteous Brothers and so many more ! So I’m asked to check out many and much which I try to do before commenting. You should also check out Lucy’s other songs, because Lucy is one not to be missed, plus interesting to be on her journey to stardom. We can like many singers, and we have 2 ears so can give an ear to both Allie and Lucy. 🙂 I do like Allie, however I prefer Lucy. On the comparison here on this song, between both I think most admit even from the 2 studio versions Lucy was better. But that’s just one song so is no conclusion. Rick Astley lives near Lucy, and Rick has billions of views on his songs. However Lucy is vastly more talented and is a much better singer than Rick ever was. Plus Lucy sung 30x more songs than Rick. Lucy’s only problem is she is widely unknown.

My initial thoughts on this comparison song here 'At Last' remain the same and I prefer Lucy, although Allie's was good - especially more so live. It would be a boring world if we all liked the same things ! Lucy has a beautiful smooth voice and sings pretty, but that's the style of singing I found on most of Lucy's covers a pretty voice. " Fallin" was to highlight the difference of a singer that is also a musician versus just a singer. Allie tailored her guitar playing to support her vocals it was a weaving of the two, to create a very personal one of a kind performance ! In checking out Lucy's channel I see primarily three different type videos. Lucy solo, Lucy with her sister, and Lucy with a couple of others. I know you have checked out some of Allie's channel but she has so much on there I'm not sure how much you have gotten to see. Allie has done duets with probably about 15 or 20 others if not more, a three pc. band, keyboard players, saxophone players just so many different types of performances, what I like to call the many flavors of an Allie performance ! One last difference, with Allie's live performances we get to enjoy her amazing personality, and join her to have some fun and enjoy her amazing performances. @@ChrisScott0 I listened to both. Thank you!. No doubt Lucy is better. Allie’s version is highly processed and she is only about 15 at the time. I tend to prefer live performances to studio versions. Even with Lucy you can hear the processing of her voice. So called Auto tune is part of that. It doesn’t diminish her ability, it just makes the voice sound different than being truly live. I’m sure she has some true live performances, and I would like to hear a live without processing. With Allie since she is usually busking, almost all her official busking videos, as well as those posted by others, have no processing. Her studio voice just sounds different. I’m sure you can hear the difference, just as when one attends a concert and the artist is performing live vs “lip synching”.
