This sounds hyper detailed and transparent...but slightly lean. Tonality of acoustic guitar seems off to me...I play guitar so I have a frame of reference.

Time machine for me Jay back to early 1980, 20 years old trying to hold my grades in College, while partying like crazy during weekends in my hometown NYC (I'm coming out was released in early 1980). In regards to the Soulution 725, I would say it's sound signature is delicate and precise. Of course I'm not in your room. Thanks Jay.

Jay, you have reached a point that the great grand majority of audiophiles do not have the financial resources to experiment with. The reality is: One day an individual can feel like this sound, then the next, another sound. At this level, an individual is splitting hairs, trying to find something that can not be discovered, but within. Regardless, like hyper cars, I encourage you to continue to keep the thrill alive (full speed), through the many cocaine corners and straightways of your journey.

I said i just played it how i felt. I didn't worry about how loud it was. Simple as that. Did you all not hear what i said? I didn't do no stupid 82db average levels. This is a straight up raw video without editing anything. If it clips it's because i was blasting it .mic could be clipping

I think I read somewhere that the Solution 725 has somthing like 500,000 microfarad capacitance. That's a crazy amount even for an amplifier , never mind a preamp.

Jay did you by chance sell your Alexx and amps to a dealer in Chicago? I am thinking about picking up a pair of Alexx from someone there and they have the same gryphon and boulder gear that you paired with them.

@philipzappala48503 жыл бұрын
Jay how did we get to the constellation? Maybe some of the likes/dislikes below could be because of the amplifier?! Whilst the 725 sound is “pure” it’s not the best sound, at least on my end. Your end maybe different.
@mmakshak2 жыл бұрын
I can only compare to what I heard at Steve Williams(i.e. oneobgyn) house in northern California. It was the original Alexandrias, driven by the original Lamm tube amp(and maybe their preamp?). It's almost impossible to figure anything out, but there was a more confused sound in this demo, but is that due to volume, mic used, etc.? People more familiar with your system and previous videos probably have a better idea about the Solution.
@clintonlewis1633 жыл бұрын
Jay great high-end electronics but you seriously need better source material to really show off what this type of equipment can do for recorded music material. Have you ever considered getting a UHA-HQ 12 reel to reel tape deck?

Considering it was recorded via a phone. (I think) It was then actually very impressive. Most people watching clips, don't realize that usually for something to sound good, it has to be recorded on maybe a good 5-15k USD microphone, or like a 10-20k USD pro camera to get the sound close to okay. So well done. And I think that the Solution preamp is a really good match for the speaker. And maybe also the mono blocks, those are one of the few ones I have not yet heard. Also it's nice that you are mixing it up, not playing these FAKE audiophile helping tracks. I think a lot of people don't realize that many of these audiophile tracks make it sound better than normal music. Impressive setup you generally have Jay. Thanks for sharing :-) Oh and I forgot... Dragon audioquest is actually pretty damn good, Especially on transistor gear.

Hang on, you're telling me audiophile recording and mastering makes music sound better than standard attempts?

@@martinjohnson2381 Yes audiophile recordings usually sounds better because of many factors statistically. (type of music, not recording quality) They have usually less harshness, and more dynamic contrast with a certain load on the system. Look at the channel Sound Sommelier. All of those tracks he uses sounds best on that type of gear and on top of that it has a very stable power load on the system, meaning that there is a certain amount of traffic going that only makes the power stay at around the same level when you measure it, these other types of channels use the easiest tracks to play music that praises the gear. Because they are in the business of selling gear. Same with AVshowrooms. That is why the same 100 tracks are almost always used. Also they know that sounds best on their recording devices, because of long experience. With a phone, it is very random what sounds good/bad. The closest you can maybe get to a good sound recording is maybe the Neuman in EAR dummy head microphone, I guess that is around 10k USD. Then on top of that you can take 16bit or 24 bit vs of the same track, which sounds different from system to system. Then there is the room. And the system. Then there is the time of day that could affect the smoothness/timing, which a few days a year actually makes a very noticable difference, especially at Jay's high level. It's actually an art filming a sound, and getting it just right so people can enjoy it at home. Because the same sound reacts also in maybe 1000 different ways on people speakers/laptops/ear phones or whatever device. And then on those devices you can also change the sound setting there. Plus there is also several other factors like burn in, distance which is maybe varied from recording to recording, hitting the microphone differently, and then smaller stuff like if it's an Nordost Odin power cable or Dragonfly. Just those 2 cable changes alone on a preamp can change the tonality/harshness a lot. I would also say that timing/ease/crispness of the music type selected, accounts for a lot on how therecording device will be happy about the recording. Small devices usually don't like fast/hectic music that changes pace a lot.

I agree. There is a lack of warmth in the low mid / mid bass, that takes away from that liquidity too. I think the Boulder mono's with Wilson in his room are the best so far... But thats what it sounds like on our side

How can when I close my eyes I don't notice any difference in sound between my seven hundred dollars "system" and this $3,000,000 dollars well put together system. It's not until I open up my eyes that I immediately notice a more colorfull and sweeter sound. Close eyes, 0 difference; eyes open, music comes to life. Does anybody know what's happening in my case? It might be the eye drops that I use. Health to everyone

I know the Wheel of fortune song very well, listened to it a million times on Stockfisch Closer to the Music compilations. Unfortunately it sounds too thin here, in my opinion. Nice midrange, but no body, bass does not tie the song together. And the overall presentation seemed a bit too bright. But I’m sure you will find a way to make these components sing, like you did many times before.

Uggh, I don’t know how you can say the Soulution 725 is comparable to the Boulder 2110. This thing is sterile as heck. Yes, transparent in a way but not natural sounding. Also, the Boulder synergized very well with the Gryphon as it did with the Momentum’s. This is really not in the same class as either the 2110 or the Pandora. Even the Momentum HD is way better than this. The 725 probably sounds fine with a Soulution 711 or 701s but this presentation is not good.
@jaysaudiolab3 жыл бұрын

@@jaysaudiolab, yes, I agree, it’s just my opinion. And I respect your opinion as well. But this demo sounded horrible to me. 2110 and any amp and Pandora and any amp sounded better than this. I used to own Soulutions and they are great when paired together but this pairing was not good.

For that kind of music, you don't need an ultra or even hi-end setup, try playing Hector Berlioz's "Grande Messe des Morts" (Requiem) and see the difference. everything else including Mahler Symphony 2 (Resurrection Symphony) is a kids game. The over-detailed tune in your movie is incredibly annoying, you don't feel wight\body in the sound, this isn't a setup i could live with.
