@@simpleanimations2726Probably copy pasted it in. On things like Windows there are a thing called a character map which holds every character that’s type able that the computer uses to reference . You can go through there and find all the letters and symbols.

This is excellent. I will say that to my ears, the vowel is fully open rather than near open, so /a/ rather than /æ/. Still, it's up for debate, and overall, your transcription is spot on. The is the kind of linguistics humor that I live for.

This was absolutely amazing! One thing, though, that I do wonder, is if there’s also creeky voice (some degree of vocal fry)? The syllable onset time doesn’t really matter, but the duration of the syllable might be causing some vocal fry towards the end, sort of like how Mandarin causes vocal fry on certain syllables at the end. I’d love to hear your opinion on that. Overall, amazing video! Need more like it!

Absolutely, I agree! IPA would be so useful for day-to-day, even things like doing accents are so much easier when you understand the IPA. Plus, it’d stop most of those people who don’t understand that letters aren’t sounds and that pronunciation is subjective.

@@comradewindowsill4253 well... i started studying english philology this october, and honestly i still don't really know the difference between the two, because both phonetics and phonology are covered in one lecture lmao. i don't really find the topics interesting, but it's not like i have a personal vendetta against it or something. what i actually had in mind when making my comment was phonetic transcription, because my transcription practicals are a nightmare, the professor always calls on everyone one by one to transcribe something on the board and it's really stressful since i still have problems with transcribing vowels, it's sometimes hard for me to distinguish some monophtongs when most of my classmates have no problem with it. i mean, i know we're learning it for our pronunciation to be better and that knowing ipa may come in handy someday, but i wish i didn't have to transcribe in front of the whole class ://
