Why does it always take tragedy or destruction for people to become good samaritans. Is this the cure for humanity and for civilization. Times like these is when people show who they really are. I’m so sorry you lost your husband. She is very precious and her community as well. A dumpster floating downriver? Yes, I would never imagine that a dumpster floats. Strong flow of water.

I live in Kentucky and I witnessed the flood. My neighborhood and others lost power and internet. My grandmother’s home was covered in water. My neighbors house went underwater. Other one of my neighbors has a disabled son and he got trapped for hours and almost died. I wish I could do something to help. I’m praying for my home and the lives of innocent people.

The government of Kentucky must stop the sale of housing property on flood and levee plains! There should be a property swap where possible for people that are situated on flood and levee plains so they can relocate above said plains. I hope that people do reach out for the victims of this.

My family is one of the families who actually had their house destroyed, car destroyed and belongings took by the floods in bell county ky and even though the governor and president declare us a State of Emergency, FEMA refuses to help us. When I call governor Bershear I can't get to talk to him and the people I get to talk to doesn't help.

First thing you should do in my opinion get them trailers foot on their property or close to it that they can call home and recovering in then bring some food tents water and serve your people

There's too many negative comments about people living in "obvious" flood plains, like it's some kind of recent trend or something. When towns and cities were first settled in America, there was no running water or indoor plumbing. America did not have indoor plumbing in homes until the late 1800's, and the vast majority of that was in cities, NOT rural areas. You built right on top of the closest water source for your day-to-day survival. Water is heavy and was hard to move before plumbing and electricity was available, and then only if you had the money. Also, there were no records readily available to study past flood trends to know where not to build. You would just find water and start building your shelter, which would eventually turn into towns. The trails turned into roads. That's how it was, world-wide, since the beginning of civilization. I never see anybody mention this historical fact, they just judge.
