Very Nice, Decent Audio, No Headset Jack.
The phone system works very well. The phone and buttons have a very nice feel, enough ring tone selections, great feel to the buttons, and clear audio. What I miss most is a headset jack. But it seems few systems have headset jacks anymore. In its place is a press to talk option (on this system). In its place on more expensive models is bluetooth support (but not this one). The speakerphone works great which I use for my home office in lieu of a headset. The equalizer button is nice too.
The audio quality is at least as good as my previous phone system. I did think the audio by default seemed to have more treble by default which was perfectly okay, but sounded better if I switched it to "bass" mode by the equalizer button. The equalizer button is easier than I thought. It doesn't bring up a menu with sliders, but instead just cycles through a few choices (normal, treble 1, treble 2, and bass). While it doesn't remember the setting from the last call, it is sure easy to just press it a few times. Due to the more treble on neutral, I think the two treble settings are completely useless being too high. But neutral and bass sound good and great to me. However, what surprised me was the audio quality for the other end, who is talking to you. I called home to my wife from a work phone (land-line) and through that the audio quality of her voice was much clearer than the previous phone system. I was really surprised. I think "HD audio" is a gimmick, and nothing too special on the end using the phone, but from the other end calling in to someone on this phone, I noticed a difference compared to my previous system. So maybe it is "HD audio" for the other person.
Setting up and adjusting settings is very easy and done by any of the hand sets. The feel of the menu buttons and large button sizes especially around the answer/hang up are excellent. The keybad buttons are large enough and have a feel I prefer, but are a little bit squishy compared to the crisp click feel of the menu and answer/hangup buttons, but overall nicer than standard rubber buttons in my opinion.
I like that the phones can still stand up on one end, so when on speakerphone I can still stand it up. It is a narrow base, but it still stands. It would easily tip if you bump the table, but it works for me. The batteries are small, like 2 AAAAs in a combined 2-pack, smaller than the 2 AAs that my previous system took. Only time will tell how long the batteries last. My last system (Panasonic) didn't too long (2 years) before wouldn't hold a charge with use in a home office. This time I am going to keep all the phones off the bases until need to be charged again to try to stretch the battery life this time.

My grandma still uses this home phone system. I think she actually bought it when it first came out in like 2010 or something like that.

Panasonic’s are notorious for those battery issues. With others phones, it’s not a problem. You can use the cordless chargers as well.

Remember the James Coburn movie where "TPC" owned everything? TPC was "The Phone Company," which meant Bell, which is now AT&T, which is certainly trying to own everything. Now it owns Direct TV, and since Google now owns You Tube, AT&T will buy Google and own You Tube. Hey Tiger, at least you're loyal to your employer.

Yes. Never had a problem with cordless phones :) . Range varies, and has gotten better in recent decades. I suspect your question is from the angle "what is a land line" if you've never had a cordless phone :). Btw, I've since started using a Panasonic cordless set that also syncs with my cell phone, syncs with its address book, and alerts you audibly when you receive a text message on your cell. However, my cell reception isn't nearly as good as my land line.

I have similar set, caller ID once showed on display, no longer dose. It is a service she dose pay for through her telephone company. Thanks in advance, feel like its a simple fix trying not to buy new phone unnecessarily.

I wouldn't think that it is a feature you can turn on or off on the device. My guess is that it means the particular calls aren't coming with the caller ID signal. See if it never works, or only on some calls. Also, it might only show the number, and rely on your address book entries added to the handsets to map it to a name that you recognize. You might be using a different handset and might not have copied the phone book entries to all handsets.

I'm looking to replace out vtech phones, which I really liked, but after 4 years we are down to one (barely) working phone. Do you know if you can check and listen to the messages on the answering system via the handset? It seems like such a simple and useful option, but I can't seem to find d this option. ... ... ... Also, I recommend buying replacement batteries from eBay or Amazon market place. The last replacements I bought were only $2 per pack. I also see many new phones are switching to standard AAA lithium ion batteries which is nice.

You *can* listen to messages from the handsets. The message audio quality is better too with the handset. However there is no flashing light on the handsets like some systems to tell you a message is waiting. I think the LCD screen might tell you, but I don't really notice from across the room. I just put the main answering system somewhere in my walking path so I can see the number. But regardless, you can listen from anywhere. I think that is fairly standard. I switched to Comcast voice which renders an answering machine useless to me. It will tell you if a VM is waiting on the handsets. But what I use is the free automated text translation of any voice mail that it just emails me along with a copy of the recording. So I check my email on my smart phone or anywhere and I see the text wherever I am. These use a battery pack, not AA or AAA, which would have been nice if they were standardized. My last system, Panasonic, had AA NiMH batteries, but they wouldn't work with any standard rechargeable AA, or at least it wouldn't charge them. Although in a pinch they would work to power them up I think. After a few years, the batteries are not lasting remotely as long as they did originally. I still only charge them when they are low or dead, but it didn't seem to help a lot (or who knows if it would have drained more by now). These are fine phones, but I cannot rave about them. For me, they were the right price and I am still happy I got them considering the value. I still miss the headphone port. Now I just use speakerphone all the time.

Reviews By Tiger Hey, Thanks for all of the information. I really appreciate it. It's very helpful! The model I am looking at currently on Amazon.com is this: AT&T EL52300 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone, Silver/Black,3 Handsets for $59.99 I really liked our V-Tech phones, but one problem I had with them, and maybe this is inherent in all current cordless phones using the DECT 6.0 band, but the sound from the other person on the line will cut in and out. I noticed this mostly when on long distance calls with customer service or other similar calls. It seems like if they are quiet it will cut them out completely and I have to turn off speaker phone and use it the "normal" way. I'd like to get a phone that doesn't have those issues, if possible. We have Magic Jack and as long as our Internet is working it works like a charm. We may just drop the local answering machine system and use their online mailbox. The plus of that is they email you a recording of the message instantly, but the negative is that you can't live screen your calls. Something to think about I suppose. Thanks again!

I looked up the EL52300 that you mention, which is not the same as my CL82x01 series. It looks similar, except the buttons might have a different feel given their look. Just remember my comments can only confirm what worked on mine. Again, I'm not completely thrilled with mine, but for around $60, I am happy enough compared to the $120 Panasonic alternatives that I had my eye on before happening across this one on sale. I have never had audio cut in and out on any phone. So I would not assume it is common to DECT 6.0 phones. However, I did have some calls entirely be crackly in audio, but I am pretty sure that was the local phone line quality. Since moving, my audio has been great. Remember with VOIP, if you don't have a good router with QoS to prioritize VIOP over other things using the internet, you could have some audio issues. I used to have trouble calling a remote co-worker who was on VOIP that would always cut out when he shared his screen for a presentation when a lot of screen activity was going on. He just needed a good router I think on top of the traffic between the computer and the phone.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. We have Road Runner Pro and the priority is set to the MJ. Even when downloading at 2MB/sec the phone quality remains very good. We used to have issues like echoing when downloading and using the phone, but the free upgrade in bandwidth fixed that. The problem with audio cutting out on the speaker phone only seemed to happen when on long distance customer service calls. I think it'd because they usually route their calls through different nodes and they are way too quiet. The speaker phone just seems like it doesn't pass on the quiet voice. I might just phone locally so we can get a feel for it and if it's no good it will be an easy return.

No. Its really not a great way to manage an address book anymore. There is no online or cloud service ability. I don't bother putting anything into it. CallerID works well, so I always know who is calling. But I end up just using my smart phone to look up one of my contacts and typing in the number.

How do you block numbers
@reviewsbytiger
@reviewsbytiger 8 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can via the hand-set. The best you have is caller-id, and just not answer :) . I actually just have it ring my cell phone (Comcast IP Phone service), so blocking can't be purely on the handset. Blocking numbers might be something the phone service can do, but I haven't recently tinkered with my settings. I've since turned off the answering machine as well because I prefer the phone service's solution email me a recording & text translation of it to read.

Tried that several times... In the process of draining the batteries and letting the phones drain out completely to see if maybe that will 'reset' the problem. One DID seem to fix but only time will tell.
