AT&T doesn't want to be in charge of landlines anymore. If another company doesn't step up, this could mean the end of landlines as we know them.

LAN lines are the last form of secure communication via phone and the internet. LAN lines also stay active during power outages, they don't operate on batteries. I hope she gets her LAN back asap.

Maybe a satellite phone could be the answer ? Land lines are still the best option when used for a Fire alarm system and in a commercial building with two lines being used in redundancy being the best practice.

It's all apart Agenda 21 and 2030 where... "we will owe nothing and be happy" according to the WEF and Klaus Schwab. Please wake up, we are at War!

@@1SAM007 No, just stating fact. VoLTE, on 4G and VoNR on 5G are essentially VoIP that's encrypted with IPSec. Even 2G & 3G phones had encryption. Only 1G analog cell phones could be easily intercepted. On the other hand, even when I was a kid, I used to clip onto our phone line to listen. BTW, I have spent the best part of 50 years working in the telecom industry and have worked with analog, TDM digital and IP phone systems and have also done some work on cell sites.

There's other companies out there that will be very hungry for your business. There's companies: Century Link, Frontier, Comcast, Community Telephone, Satellite Country, and Cox to name some of many alternatives!!! Frontier and Century Link have taken over many areas that use to have AT&T LANDLINE SERVICE. At least there will always be alternatives to select from. Also there's MCI.

Cell phone service is not yet advanced to compete with land lines . There should not be any areas that can not receive cell phone service .
@SkatingErinsMom3 ай бұрын
Correct! POTS has been in use since the 1800's, proven history. There are many areas in Humboldt County where there is no or very poor quality cell phone service. Variety of reasons, geography, only one working cell tower (no backup), no power for long periods of time (earthquakes, wildfires, and so on), only landlines work during those times, cell phones can't be charged. Older and/or disabled people cannot use cell phones. No Satellite service in many areas, or does not reach many homes, or too expensive. Other counties in Calif have similar issues.

I’m sorry about Pat’s misfortunes. I'm an AT&T customer in California. I’ve never owned a cellphone and never will, mostly because of my veganism, which is lifestyle as well as dietary. I've never sent or received a text. I live alone and may need to use my landline in an emergency. If AT&T cancels my landline service, I'll have to choose a different provider. I think phone companies should want to keep cellphone service for reasons given in the video and for mine. I also think public payphones should become common again.
@James_Knott4 ай бұрын
What does veganism have to do with cell phones? Also, payphones disappeared because there was so little business for them, with most people using cell phones.
@shiroibasketshoes4 ай бұрын
@@James_Knott My citing lifestyle veganism (as well as dietary) meant trying to live a life without use of animals as much as possible. Dairy derived casein glue and animal cholesterol are used in smartphones' LCD screens’ liquid crystals. The glue such as used in phones contains gelatin which comes from cow hooves and cartilage and / or from pigs. Mobile phones’ batteries and adhesives are animal derived. Some mobile phones’ covers are made with leather, which is cow derived. Some phone software uses animal products in their testing. Some materials have come from tropical rainforests and cause other environmental harm. Cellphone tower radiation harms birds, sparrows, bees, bats, white storks and more. Wireless radiation from cellphone towers disrupts birds’ navigation skills, causing them to lose direction and leading them away from their colonies. Long-term EMF radiation exposure at close ranges on roofs has damaging effects on immune system and nervous system of bird species. Birds have thin eco-skeletons penetrated easily by cellphone towers’ microwave radiation, making them lethargic, sick and incapable of foraging. Prolonged microwave radiation exposure reduces birds’ activity levels, making them less alert and more vulnerable to predators’ attacks. I knew payphones are used less often than they used to be, but I consider that no reason to make them as rare as they now are. They are sometimes still a very important option for some people to have.
@James_Knott4 ай бұрын
@@shiroibasketshoes Well, I guess you'd better get yourself a tinfoil hat, to protect against all that radiation. As for payphones, are you expecting those companies to provide a service that will always lose them money? That's why they're disappearing. There's no need for them, other than by drug dealers. Same with traditional phone lines. More and more people have cell phones and don't see the point in spending money on a home phone. I have a home phone only because it's including with my TV and Internet bundle. I don't pay separate for it. Also, how do you know animal products aren't used in traditional telephones? Or the computer you use to access the Internet? Etc.?

THIS happens with every generation that has new technology taking-over. It happened in 1900 when cars began taking horses off the street. The old-timers barked about the reliability of horses over horseless carriages. It will always be the old people complaining about progress, not wanting to let go of what they know best. In another 25 years nobody will know what a LAND line is
