Thank you for your insights, it really adds to my enjoyment of the song. I was shocked they announced a US Tour in November that will actually come to the midwest! I decided I'm going to see them in St. Paul.

@@AndrewHartley I will be curious what the demographics of these shows will be. I sure hope I'm not the only older guy in the crowd! The festival footage I have seen has usually been younger fans - but that's festivals.

I really started to love AG!'s music over the past couple of months and like almost all of their tracks now (it was kind of a "fight" and took me two years to wrap my head around their jazzy stuff though). The new song doesn't immediately hits home for me at the moment, but that (as I know now) may very well change in the future. 🙂Thanks for your analysis and thoughts about this song. I wish I could see the girls live someday but it's highly unlikely they'll come over to Germany, I assume...

It took me a couple of listens to really get into it. As for their touring, who knows? I was completely caught off guard by their recent tour announcement. I think they’ll venture to Europe soon, albeit in a limited tour.

Thanks, as always an enjoyable dive deep into another great performance 😊. Fun fact, there's a backstage short on their channel, where Rin stay crouched behind the wall during the shootings on the statue and get up only when the camera is rolling... I feel her, as Im totally scared of heights too 😅.

They are very successful this year, sold out concerts especial the Arena solo Event in Oktober sold out in one and a half months. Incrasing social Media numbers. Their "the first take" video Passes 40M views and is shortly standing bevor 41M. The fastest growing TFT take this year and they are close to the most successful 10 videos ever. There is so much going on for them.... it's incredible

The dance gives us a clue about the subject of their ire. In several places they crouch over and mime furious typing. This criticism of modern tech and social media can also be found in SNS24 which I think is worth some analysis.

A Banger is right. I appreciate your insight into the lyrical meaning... but, the music itself is so great. I love when they go jazzy, it fits them so well. I wonder how much there "return" back to their roots has to do with the unexpected revival of Otona Blue... or if their American adventure Snacktime was always going to be the outlier. (Perhaps like Babymetal's the Other One without the lore attached).

Yes. I think the sound is slightly softer than the acid jazz feel of the first albums, partly because of the mostly undistorted guitars, but the spirit is similar. Great stuff.

With Otona Blue's success, they got a lot of attention in Japan for having a retro "Showa-era" 1970's sound. We will definitely be hearing more of that. However, crossing and defying genres is what they do. They brought Yonkey, the young Otona Blue composer, with them on their trip to L.A., and he met with some American producers, including, but not only Snacktime Money Mark. I think the AG World Adventure is just beginning.

Martha Grahamy ;-) I love that it's so easy to turn a noun into an adjective in English. FYI they also spell out 人間 (ningan or human) at the end. Something that has always stood out to me about AG is their championing of the marginalized and the individual which strikes me as a novel thing in a Japanese context and particularly so for an "idol" group. They have their introduction mantra about sticking out and have also not been afraid to appear at Pride events or sing about controversial subjects.
@AndrewHartley
@AndrewHartley 11 ай бұрын
Yep. Not sure my dance prof colleagues would approve of my invoking the sainted Martha, but I'll take that chance :) And yes, I think bands like AG really stretch the Idol definition to breaking point. It may be where they began, but it's not where they are, unless (as some have recently done) we massively expand the definition. And I think that's a part of a broader social shift in Japan which related to your other point about marginalized voices/selves. Hopefully it reflects (or leads) a larger trend.

@@AndrewHartleyThere are some shapes in the dancing that remind me of Bob Fosse, but putting a "y" on the end of his name and pronouncing it separately from the ending "e" just sounds silly so we resort the the "esque" suffix.

I'm guilty , allowing monotony to flow over my life . Letting neighbors and friends convince that boring me that" it's all good " you wouldn't want noticed . Just be the good person you are because if you do something differently...... someone might criticize you and that "might" change you . This is a world wide affliction and it's only worsening ! (^_^;)
