High 5^. Exactly what i was looking to see, apart from the lower half, not being underground, or at least a berm of soil against the walls. To maintain a comfortable temperature. Very functional design, then and now in poor countries with extended families. Done properly within the different countries, dependent upon the weather conditions and other factors, it could still work for many. Of course in the tropics, a high peaked roof against snow, not needed.

@jesuschristislordoflordsan427
@jesuschristislordoflordsan427 4 жыл бұрын
@@cazek445 sorry about that « I solemnly tell you: there is but one slavery, that of sin. Only he who commits sin is a slave. And of a slavery which no money can ransom; and he is the slave of an implacable cruel master and loses all rights to the free sovereignty in the Kingdom of Heaven. A slave, a man who has become slave through war or misfortunes, may also become the property of a good master. But his welfare is always precarious because his master can sell him to another cruel master. He is merchandise, nothing else. Sometimes he is used as money to settle a debt. And he is not even entitled to complain. A servant instead lives in the house of his master until he is dismissed. But a son remains in the house of his father for good, and the father does not think of expelling him. He can go out only of his own free will. And that is the difference between slavery and servitude, and between servitude and filiation. Slavery puts man in chains. Servitude puts him at the service of a master. Filiation puts him forever, and with equal rights of life, in the house of the father. Slavery destroys man. Servitude subjects him. Filiation makes him free and happy. Sin makes man the slave and forever, of the most cruel master: Satan. Servitude, in this case the Ancient Law, makes man fear God as an intransigent Being. Filiation, that is, to come to God with His First-Born, with Me, makes man free and happy, as he knows and trusts in the charity of his Father. To accept My Doctrine is to come to God with Me, the First-Born of many beloved children. I will break your chains, if you only come to Me to have them broken and you will really be happy and coheirs with Me to the Kingdom of Heaven. I know that you are Abraham's posterity. But those among you who seek My death no longer honour Abraham, but Satan, and serve him as faithful servants. Why? Because they reject My word which cannot get to the hearts of many of you. God does not compel man to believe or to accept Me. But He sent Me that I may show you His will. And I tell you what I saw and heard near My Father. And I do what He wants. But those among you who persecute Me, do what they learnt from their father and what he suggests. » ~Jesus Christ in book Poem of The Man God

The construction is completely different, so I don't think so. But it's a fairly simple concept so I wouldn't be surprised if it was developed twice independently. I bet if we look hard enough we can fnd more cultures where houses followed a comparable scheme. The only known Viking presence in America was all the way up in Newfoundland. If the Vikings had contact with any Iroquious, it was probably superficial through trade.

I was asking the question because I was trying to do research in to Viking settlers in the UK and how they would live. my comment was not hateful, nasty or derogatory in any way only an observation made to go with the question I was asking of the highly educated people specialising in this kind of building because since they built it I thought they might know the answer as I assume they have researched Viking houses before they built one. You comment on the other hand suggesting I need to educate myself before I try to educate myself by asking a question shows you're just an moron out to make any little comment you can on the internet to ruin other people's day. What respect do you have for your forefathers when you choose to label yourself after something that makes a mockery of Swedish people? I suggest you quid being a nasty little troll and go find a better way to live your life because those forefathers would be ashamed of you.

Hi Victoria, it depends if it was a city house or a farm house. The size of family houses, 5 x 12 meters was very normal, but it varied a lot. The always shared thing was the fireplace in the middle of the house; it was there people had the daily life cooking, eating, sleeping and telling stories in the evening time. In wintertime the inner temperature was around 12 degrees, it was an art form to control the heat without creating too much smoke in the process. Over the beds / benches alongside the walls there were broad wooden “shelfs” which helped to rise the temperature where people were sitting / sleeping. Normally the houses were one big room but sometimes there were one max. two rooms located at the gable ends. If it was a farm or a collection of farms, small houses was located around the family house for production of various things, here wool were made into fabric, wood work was made, and the blacksmith was working in the house farthest away. Hoped that helped a bit. Forget about that probably 12 year old Swedish guy embarrassing himself.
