That looked more like a slow discharge that a battery would give you. A capacitor will discharge all of it's energy so it would make a big spark.

A supercapacitor has a very high capacitance, so it can give a high current for a longer Time. But the capacitor in the Video is fake, i there is a high current transformer or a real supercap whose output goes throug the bottom of the fake to its output.

So people believe this guy just made an ultra mega super capacitor by putting a lot of tape together and squeezing it all in a box... Also he didn't do any measurements, just decided it's 1000F, and most of the effort went into making the other parts. That's the power of faith I guess

The title it says "1000F" which I interpret as 1000 farads. Well then. If we calculate the area of a capacitor of 1000 farads with a dielectric of 0.01 mm of separation between plates, it would give us a surface of each plate of more than 10 m², and in the video, those aluminum strips do not have even a tenth of that surface. What this man built is a rudimentary battery that stores energy as any battery would. Moreover, the vinegar and salt water is nothing more than an electrolyte. It is not an insulator and its "D" is very high.

The capacitor would have a much more violent reaction with the wire if the two contacts touched. The wire melting was much more like if you just hooked up a beefy power supply to it. Kinda sad that you're hearing this from a Senior in high school that hasn't even had any real training in electronics outside of physics

Почему не показал что там реально 1000 Фарад. Ну и можно было хоть тестером показать напряжение. Ничего не померял, не показал толком, и палить проволку. Похоже на чистой воды фейк. Кроме того, конденсатор бы сразу разрядился на проволоку, но не у автора видео, там заряд бесконечный.

The video is a scam, or rather a coil capacitor, which was made very stupid in the video, of course it does not have such a capacity. Basically, it would not work at all due to the dialectic used and its thickness. Maybe it could have a capacity of a few pF at a higher voltage, like in a Leyden bottle. The capacitor does not necessarily discharge its capacity immediately, unless it is short-circuited. A real large capacitor bank powers my LED lighting for a few minutes. Each connected device draws as much mA as it needs (basics of electrical engineering). It is only necessary to observe the charging voltage that is marked on the capacitor, for example 6V. The capacitor will be able to power the device to 6V, taking as much mA as it needs. Capacitor batteries may be the future if nanotechnology can increase their capacity at the expense of less space.

Time for a little basic electrical wiring skills update. When you tighten a screw over a wire loop, you should orient the direction of the loop such that the screw tightens NOT loosens the eye. :). To the question “how do you know it’s 1000F? They don’t. Also, the wiping of an acetic/citric acid solution over an aluminum foil that essentially is covered with aluminum oxide.... well just look at the lack of wetting of the foil when he wipes it across. Seems like another American Tech video destined to be a “golden oldie” really soon

@ Nitrous Man Your basic lesson in mechanics is pretty good. I noticed the same, the eye of a wire loop is opened, if the direction of tightening the srew and the end of the wire loop looks into the opposite direction. 😂

How did you calculate the value of the capacity? These poles (+) and (-) is based on what technique? How does the bipolar condenser not suddenly discharge when in contact with a consumer (in this case the wire)

We were asked this question in high school, if i remember right, "How big would a one Farad capacitor be?" We were allowed to let our imagination fly and yet we were no where near. The answer our teacher gave us was shocking, needless to say. "a one Farad capacitor would be as big or close to the size of our planet Earth". It was memorable; shout out to my physics teacher Prof Desai, I still remember your analogy and I won't ever make that Farad mistake again. This would probably be true if you're speaking about surface area. But in the case of capacitors, manufacturers usually make rolls with some metal plates (something like the capacitor in this video), and then they coat them in carbon. Due to the nanostructure of carbon, its surface area is multiplied, and the fact that there's a long strip of material rolled over makes the final product really small. And to top it off, manufacturers use electrolyte, which also multiplies by a lot the capacitance of the product. I'm not saying that this video isn't fake, because it is (the electrolyte used doesn't work, there's nothing that soaks in electrolyte to keep it touching the metal plates, the roll isn't very compacted, he doesn't coat the aluminum strips in carbon and there's not enough surface area), but I'm just saying that there are indeed 1F capacitors, which aren't that big either (somewhat similar in size to a can of Pringles). The only thing is that there's a LOT of science involved in this capacitors to effectively pack the whole surface area of the earth into a can of pringles sized component.

@@frankpitochelli6786 It's as fake as can be BUT no shock likely under about 30V with wet hands or 50V with dry hands - regardless of the capacitance or current handling. Hence why you can touch a fully charged car battery with wet hands and not even feel a tingle.

When you charge super cupacitor, there is a very high current (almost as short circuit) in the beginning. It slowly will decrease.

@@schitlipz agreed, i tried making capacitors and battery's for over years now... and if you know chemistry a little well, than you know the aluminum will corode wit the salt water if any electricity gets added, and aluminum + aluminum wont make a voltage potential powerfull enough to weld...

Hocam fake bu. Bilim insanları bile bu tür kondansatörler için yarıiletlenler konusunda ömürlerini harcıyorlar. Bu iş öyle alüminyum folyo ile olucak iş değil. Bu videoda ise yüksek ihtimal kondansatörün içine lityum pil felan koymuş yada gizlice başka yerden besliyor.

You're always making new mega capacitors. 1000 Farad, 3000 Farad, 7000 Farad... Why don't you measure REAL capacities with a capacimeter and show them in your videos? Power supply is not enough!

Я сам не понимаю почему все верят. Это просто шоу, не может быть накоплен такой заряд в этой игрушке. Посмотрите формулу расчета ёмкости и посмотрите какая здесь площадь между обкладками. Либо внутри коробки 18650, либо отдельно скрытно выведены провода к мощному источнику питания.

One flaw. 2 disimular metals will oxidize. Use brass screws with your brass connectors. Time and electrolysis will corrode these.
