If you pass the auditions you become a trainee and train until you debut (but you never really know IF you're even gonna debut, becoming a trainee doesn't automatically mean becoming an idol). Some of them trained with other companies before coming to their current company, KQ, I think it was in 2017 because that was when they were accepting trainees. They debuted in October 2018 but they released 3 performance videos doing dance covers of western songs that were like an introduction of the group, it was popular and that was why a lot of people were looking forward to their debut (great marketing strategy from the company). And on january 2019 they released another album, and went on a sold-out world tour after that. Their energy and stage presence is no joke, and I think this is one of the reasons why they have such a large fanbase. One more reason is that their music is so sexy, it ranges from hard and dark songs like Wonderland and Hala Hala to soft ones like in their summer album. Ateez is amazing. They've only been out since Oct 2018 but they had a sold out world tour 5 months after debut. They were scouted by major U.S. labels during that time and signed with RCA. They are doing what people say they can't and are on world tour #2 and already selling out Arenas like groups that are older than them. They have amazing dance videos from pre-debut and many thought they were a dance crew before finding out they were a kpop group that hadn't debut. Google KQ Fellaz performance vids. The one to Desiigner's Outlet is actually my fav. Wonderland is amazing and of course you get more choreo with the live performance. The comeback stage for it lit seemed like a movie. Hala Hala is another dark, hard hitting song. Win on KBS is amazing. There is no video for Win but it has over 48 transitions. R n b style songs are Aurora which their is a mv, Mist, no mv but live from concert, Light, Sunrise, Thank U. Tropical songs Wave and Illusion have mvs. Their MAMA mashup is a must watch. As rookies Ateez were required to do covers so they did a BTS, Shinee, Miss A and Wonderland thrown in throughout. Truly amazing performance. Their MAMA got the most views for rookies and even more than some seniors. Media praised their performance.They can cover anyone and do an amazing job.
