Athangudi sounds more like a place name than an option for floor tiles, but today the product has made both the place and tiles famous. They are made mainly in Athangudi village of the Chettinadu region in Tamil Nadu, India. The traditional mode of production continues till date, maintaining a legacy and grandeur.

Please encourage the artisans to wear protective gear , handling cement with bare hands isn't good, and also cover from breathing in the dust.. otherwise beautiful tiles ,

Shobha, The tiles have little shelf life compared to vitrified & ceramic tiles.

esd architects, Normally they manufacture the tiles in Athangudi (Tamilnadu) itself as the tile's unique character is in the property of locally available soil. After manufacture, they come & lay the tiles in your site.

Athangudi tiles, named after the place of manufacture in Chettinad, Tamil Nadu, come in myriad colors and patterns and are made by a unique process using local soil. These tiles are a testimony to the rich cultural heritage of the Chettiar community, who effectively adapted many influences to their own brand of local craftsmanship. The designs and colors used in Athangudi Tiles are still those of a bygone era. However, off late new designs and patters are being incorporated.
