Athearn Genesis 2-8-2 DCC install. Using a TCS WOWSteam decoder and Scale Sound Systems speaker.

Sounds great, especially for an older decoder. TCS WOW always did/does have great motor control. Thanks for sharing!🙂

In all honesty, i think athearn should bring back the Mikado in the Genesis 2.0 version. I also believe this mikado was their very first genesis steamer.

I'm new with DCC. How many different pin configurations are there that lead out of these locomotives?

Also, do all DCC ready engines need to have a speaker installed in to the body or tender? I would think the speaker would already be installed.

There are several different types. 8,9,18,21 and some newer 22 pin connectors. DCC ready doesn't mean speakers are installed. The are just ready to have a decoder added.
