What I think you guys should get from this is how horrible Matt does with someone informed off of his show guys. We can all tell the same tone and responses are the same on his show; but when he cannot remove the caller abruptly after making such statements authoritatively notice how bad he does when he has to deal with the responses he avoids having to deal with on his show, by removing them when he anticipates them.

The argument that deterministic brain functions doesn't fully explain consciousness and "a free thinking being" may indicate that materialism is not sufficent, but it doesn't mean religion is the logical answer.

It's an interesting point that Matt Slick makes, and I don't know if Dillahunty did the best at responding to it. I don't accept Slick's argument that chemical states can't produce proper logical inference. He uses the simplified example of baking soda and vinegar as a chemical reaction that doesn't produce logic. I agree with that. However, like he said, it's simplified. That particular chemical reaction doesn't have the product of logical inference, but why does that then mean that no chemical reaction can produce logical inference? The way I understand that our brain, despite being part of the physical world, can assess, with logic, the physical world is by understanding that the universe has rules described with mathematics. The physics, chemical reactions, etc. all seem to have an order that we can describe with mathematics. And so with in this seemingly mathematical construct, there can be patterns that loop, patterns that allow for the assessment of other logical patterns, i.e. our brain. We can build computer programs with A.I., pieces of code that learn and understand about the pieces of code within the whole program. So it seems that our brains are such pieces of code, or such chemical patterns. Our brain produces chemical reactions with the emergent property of learning about our world, which, because the world is, in some way, built on logical, allows us to assess logic and therefore make logical inferences.

In the New Testament, Paul addresses the Ephesians with the opening words: "Οἱ δοῦλοι, ὑπακούετε τοῖς κατὰ σάρκα κυρίοις" ( *Slaves* , be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters) NT Ephesians 6:5. "Οἱ δοῦλοι" were not just slaves, they were those who were born into slavery and died a slave.

Matt actually isn't great at debating. He's too used to being on a show where he is in complete control of his callers, and he spends a lot of time on that show proving he is right. That has lead to him not being careful with his language in debates. Sometimes he says things without first thinking them through, and then denies that he said them.

So he kinda dialed to explain that a slave in old testament Hebrew culture was a person who willingly works for another. Someone who recieved payment for food or clothing or lodging for him and his family , generallt because not everyone had there own land and ability to be self sustaining. Read those laws in duet and Lev with this in mind and it will make alot more sense. This is not to say people were not kept as unwilling slaves,. Just Hebrew s were not permitted. They were to be a set apart people from the rest.
