Realize this is an old comment. However my impression is Bwansamdi is a pretty calculating kind of entity. He did say he has a sense of care for a balance in things. However the problem more or less lies in the fact the curse essentially railroads any choice here. If Bwansamdi tomorrow wants a million sacrifices. What are you going to say? Anduin flat out admits in the Alliance aftermath that Rastakhan was deliberately targeted because the goal was to break the Zandalari’s spirits and drive them away from the Horde, and then he admits instead the opposite happened. I also wonder if he knows his orders to spare civilians were deliberately disobeyed.

I mean... the lady wrote many of the best written stories around Warcraft's universe and knows a lot about the lore and characters of Warcraft, from both factions. @@Athelarius Makes sense from a narrative perspective though, Rastakhan has been king for 200 years, such a long rule makes you stagnant easily. Not hard to see him developing an attitude of "Thing have been fine so far, why wouldn't they continue that way".

Alliance wouldn´t stand a chance against Bwonsamdi. He wanted Rastakhan to die. He knows that Talanji is better and less dumb ruler. He basically saved Zandalar.

Well as you can see Sylvanas burned Teldrassil and pulled a silly one at Lordaeron. So the obvious solution was to attack a nation upon which Sylvanas was nowhere to be found and push said inhabitants of said nation closer to the Horde. Glorious writing!

Attacking them is akin to attacking Switzerland during WW2 for accepting Nazi gold. The Zandalari themselves had little to nothing to do with this war. So in conclusion the alliance attacked a "neutral" faction killing their reigning monarch after kidnapping (or how else Talanji ended up in Stormwind) the princess. If anything the alliance should have come to bargain, not come to attack. Not to mention, if you know anything about trolls (which I don't expect of humans in WoW) they are a highly proud people and it was more than obvious that they would go and want to claim vengeance against the alliance, after having their capital attacked. Furthermore, Anduin saying afterwards "Oh I didn't mean to have Rastakhan killed" is the most stupid and naive thing I've ever heard. What did that boy king think would happen? The invading force would get to drink tea and play chess with Rastakhan? Don't make me laugh. (Sorry for the rant but I find it harder and harder to stomach the stupidity in Blizzard's writing)

That's one way to look at it. Perhaps they had a different view of how things might have turned out. Essentially, I think the goal was to show the Zandalari that there are consequences for siding with the Horde. IE, if Talanji hadn't reached out to the Horde, her father might still be alive.

That's what happens when the Alliance is constantly written as morons. The first thing Velen, Tyrande or even Genn-ie, anyone with more than a few years experience in war- would have told Anduin was his plan was idiotic, because making martyrs out of people-as they did Rastakhan- does not break people, it only makes them angrier and more determined to see you suffer. In the second place, what was this battle actually to accomplish? Rastakhan was a minor leader in the Horde, heading a faction that (at the time) had not fully committed to the Horde and was still reeling from the events of Zul and Uldir. In addition, the Horde was starting to fracture thanks to Sylvanas. This not only wasted Alliance soldiers to assault a city they had no chance of holding, but provided the perfect thing to unite the Horde and bring the Zandalari properly into the fold. Then again, the theme of this expansion in general has been terrible writing. So I can't say I'm shocked.

The goal was to destroy the fleet and cripple the Zandalari war machine though? They were pretty successful in that regard.

@@WalkerOfTheWastes Killing Rastakhan was dumb, but the plan to destroy the Zandalari fleet - crippling the Horde logistically and giving the alliance control of the seas - was pretty good. Obviously the war got cut short like always, but having the naval advantage is huge. Portals can only be run so often and carry so much in the lore at least, but ships are as reliable in bulk as they are slow.

The Night Elves chose to make Teldrassil a military target. They chose to put every civilian there at risk. They chose not to evacuate when they had the chance. The Horde responded to the Alliance’s aggressions and cruelty in-kind by burning it. The Alliance literally had no reason to assassinate Rastakhan and butcher his people. They weren’t even part of the Horde at this point, but they are now that they’ve seen the Alliance’s bloodlust firsthand. Way to go. 👍

Deutscher Geist Even something normally civilian can be made a military target. Southshore is a lesser example from an earlier expansion. The Alliance was using the town as a supply port and staging ground for one of their earlier invasions of Lordaeron. That was all the justification the Forsaken needed to destroy it. In this case, the Alliance made Teldrassil a military target when they stuffed Darnassus full of Azerite they stole from Horde miners they murdered in Silithus, the latter being the massacre and theft which started the war in the first place. The fact that you resort to derogatory attempts at insults when faced with canon lore is rather telling.

Your point of view is biased. They don't just kill the king, they also cripple the Zandalari fleet. Which is an amazing tactical move, because the Alliance's fleet cannot be matched by the Horde now. What can the Horde do about this situation? Well, there's that item called the Tide Scepter. You know, the one that you obtain during your war campaign? A weapon that would've been of great use against the Kul'tiran navy. Oh, but what happens to it? The Alliance steals it from the Zandalari treasury, based on intel provided by Mathias Shaw. Also, most of the Zandalari's loa are dead now. Even Nathanos states that the Alliance will win in a matter of weeks after the devastating blow that was dealt to the Horde after Dazar'alor. But, sure, feel free to attempt to invalidate everything that the Alliance has accomplished. Cool fanfiction.
