The lore on this game is that the boss of the Ice world is not supposed to be beatable without the Bow & Arrow, and the boss at the end is supposed to be invulnerable without the Harp in the World of Labrynith, which is accessed by getting the Key item the player passes up by skipping the boss to World of Hell and not collecting it when it appears in Final World. Both facts are pretty handily disproven by this run.

This game isn't really that bad, sure the NES version isn't great (not bad, but could've been far better). The game that started us old school gamers on the adventures of Athena, and her later descendant, Athena Asamiya in the KoF series, and along with sidekick Sie Kensou in Psycho Soldier.

this was my favourite arcade game to play back in the 80's.. thnx for uploading! Couldn't remember the name of it, til i randomly clicked on this vid :-) cheers

Imagine that SNK would make a sequel to this game, Shantae style. I want the Kof character to star in their own game, aside from KOF.

colelegante Yeah althought this Athena is different of KOF Athena, this Athena is a princess and KOF Athena is Athena Asamiya is a pop singer, is as the case of the differents Link or Megaman

Different from Asamiya (KOF), but they are relatives. Athena the goddess is Asamiya's ancestor.

nice run, just beat it today. did not know about getting the pandoras box before fighting maldo. That messed me up a bit. i think the second boss is the hardest. the first boss is doable as long as you have arrows once you get the sword that shoots projectiles. as long as you can stay alive from the random enemies i think you are fine. tough game but it is doable if you remember some tricks.

Me too. But I hope we might get better at this eventually like pros. I have the game on my PS3 through PlayStation Network.

Weaker system + Micronics = bad combination Maybe with SNK doing the programming instead, the port would've turned out better.

This is her ancestor, and not her. She didn't become a thing till Psycho Soldier. This Athena is in SVC Chaos and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum.

Heroine beneath crimson lettering. Demon apparent through the direction. How is this Divine beneath what she does?! Man made beneath the image of the Divine. How might this be a goddess, if this does not even man up to the scenario a dame. - Content appears quite disturbing.

Either this guy is using tool assist or this version plays a hell of a lot better than the NES version. I got to World of Hell in the NES version back in the day as a child but I don't think I have the patience or tenacity to try to attempt that feat nowadays.

This Athena is a goddess/princess she isn't Athena Asamiya, this Athena Goddess should have been in KOF is way better than Asamiya

A goddess in a KoF game would be an unfair advantage for Goddess Athena. Glad there are two of them, but SNK has never put them both in the same game.
