Let me tell you guys 1 thing after winning this. Even though we were not getting through in finals and semi finals of ICC tournaments, we were the most consistent team, especially in Test Cricket. Be proud of that consistency. Its even more difficult to achieve than winning a one off match. ICC knockouts are a lottery sometimes. Winning 2 back to back test series in Australia, playing 2 WTC finals and our run in the last 50 over World Cup are great examples. Be proud guys 🎉

You missed if we count last two 50 over c'hip & this T20 .. India played (8/2, 10/1, 9/0 ) that's 24 out of 27 wins at the highest stage .. Very proud of our boys.

What I meant was that South Africa having a close game with Nepal shouldn't invite such scathing point of views. Nepal was a decent side and it would take several world cups to fine tune their skills to make it to knockouts eventually. But South Africa had a very strong show. Even stronger than their ODI world cup.

They were not good against Bangladesh and Nepal. 4 runs were denied to Bangladesh otherwise they could have won the match. So I don’t agree, they did not deserve to win the tournament.

Completely agree. The background/ setting is beautiful. To add to this, how I feel we could get to hear the honeyed voice of the late Tony Cozier one more time. It would have been a pleasure to listen to his inputs in his musical Bajan lilt. Miss the old days with the slower pace of life.

Dravid was instrumental in creating this World number 1 team in all formats. He trusted in the process and was ready to lose bilateral series to make this team. Dravid ICC record as coach is one of the best. Only Australian coach Buchanan has a better record. Dravid choose the hard way and coached under 19 team and won them ICC 50 over cricket. He worked at NCA and helped unfit players to get fit, He coached IPL team. Unlike Shastri who got the job on recommendation and zero coaching experience. Shastri & Kholi just wanted to win everything and failed to build a team. Dravid was ready to lose to build the thing. Here is the difference.

No fan will hate any sports person who sacrifices so much just for their entertainment. And even on hard pitches on T20, when you play 60 balls and score only ~80runs, thats a bad innings. Yes steady ship after quick fall of wickets, but get going with run rate as well. Hardik played just 2 balls, Jadeja only 4. In the end of Indian innings, the hitters were underutilized.

Well Indian broadcasters paid 3 billion usd in broadcasting rights to ICC so it definitely makes sense for ICC to schedule games which is more convenient for indian viewers so that broadcasters can also run their business. India has most number of viewers than any other country and so is ad revenue so there was nothing wrong about the time schedule. Thats how the world works.

Its always long term profit vs short term profit. If Cricket actually picks up in carribean, it will more revenue for ICC, however that would mean sacrificing on some ad revenue for current tournament.

That's exactly the plan. In both 2023 final and 2024 final, Kohli played his part. In 2024, his partners in partnership played their part perfectly but in 2023, they didn't.

Compare Sky's catch in 2024 world t20 final with the missed one from Trent Boult in 2019 final and you will know how important it was. World cup over the line. Boult dropped it and SkY brought it back.

True, perhaps Kohli could have gone harder a tiny bit earlier in retrospect, but maybe the pitch also got a bit easier for SA batting ? Luckily for him, the bowling managed with what he scraped together. This was a game of fractional differences between teams. The two best teams duked it out, and the better one just scraped thru.

He probably should have gone a couple of overs earlier. But I think there were a couple of times he tried but he was finding the fielder. I think Ind were 15 runs short. I think Ind thought it was good enough because pitches usually get slower in the 2nd innings, but that didn't happen in the final. The pitch didn't have any grip at all.

no way you compare both .. they were on different conditions... kohli's approach till 13th over was understandable.. .but with the ship steadied by him and majorly by axar., he shud have attacked more ... The pitch was a 190+ total...surely Pandya would have taken us past 190 with the kindof form he is in .. kohli's innings was saved by bowlers

that's what we said after the 2013 Champions Trophy, and then we had a trophy drought for 11 years haha. India needs to have the hunger now to dominate world cricket and win World Cup after World Cup just like Ponting's Australia did in 2003 and 2007. I still remember a moment when Dhoni was captain and Ind lost a T20I vs Eng, in Eng due to bad death over bowling. That time during the post match presentation Nasser Hussain asked Dhoni, "so many bowlers, play so much IPL, still death bowling is like this". Some hindi media channels ran this news "Dhoni ka apmaan, India ka apmaan". And that I still remember maybe 8 years after. And now this moment. Incredible Death Over Bowling by our bowlers who play so much IPL, to win this final out of SA's jaws. My hate for Nasser is over now!

I think they did that because of what Eng did in Adelaide and they thought that would be a heavy psychological advantage, but Eng had honestly not been particularly great and in Guyana conditions, Ind was always going to be favorites. If the semi-final was in St Lucia or Barbados, then Eng would have had a stronger chance.

I think the emotional reaction of all the players involved, including people like Bumrah, who never shows his emotions, shows just how much pressure these guys have been under. I genuinely feel they just got overwhelmed by the pressure and the atmosphere in November. This time, being away from India, without all the nationalistic drama and the hyper media, they didn’t have that additional pressure.
