Hailing from South London, Athlete is an English indie rock band consisting of Joel Pott (lead vocals and guitar), Carey Willetts (bass and backing vocals), Stephen Roberts (drums and backing vocals), and Tim Wanstall (keyboards). The band achieved chart success with the singles "You Got The Style" and "Beautiful" from their debut album "Vehicles & Animals" which achieved platinum status and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2003.

Worked on a gig with Athlete in Aberdeen around 2008...lovely guys and amazing show. Remember just sitting in a corner on my own listening to this during soundcheck...what a privilege!

If it is indeed about the increase of hurricanes on the north american east coast ( i live there) it would have been really awesome to base the video on clips from the disaster they cause. It would have really driven the point home. Either way i love this band and i hope they keep making music forever.

yea it most certainly is a shame. i 'heard' them in July if this year, i was at a campsite about 5 miles away from where they were playing at the time. what a great night that was!

I remember when this came out and I was doing my A levels, I often couldnt sleep and plus the OC re-runs were on and Id be up at like 3am. I used to watch this on TMF wow things didnt change

What a great tune. Electronic synths and guitars. This is rock. I was 14 when i listened it. Now i’m 27 and listen too like the first time. Can’t stop to dream after 13 years with it and People help the people by Cherry Ghost. Thank u artists.

i heard a song that sounded like them and ive been trying to find it out, it sounded like he was saying "no one" quite a bit .but at the middle it sounded like it got quiet and just had synth and then it came back with drums and guitars and then it faded out with a morse code-ish sounding melody

The song is just talking about a big impact on someones life as well as a hurricane. A hurrricane representing a big force in someones life, it might not be destructive at all though, pushing them on in life, maybe. I like the song anyway...

Yeah trust me they're great... the set is great with stuff from all 3 albums. Personally I didn't really like the support act (Boy Kill Boy) but Athlete are brill!! Enjoy!
