Oscar De La Hoya's daughter, Atiana, opens up about their complicated history in the boxer’s two-part docuseries, 'The Golden Boy.' The 24-year-old influencer reflects on the famed boxer's absence throughout her childhood, and shares where their relationship stands today. Oscar explained to ET why he wanted to look back on his legacy in the two-part documentary, adding that he's 'grateful' for Travis Barker, who stepped in as a surrogate father after he married Atiana's mother, Shanna Moakler, in 2004. ‘The Golden Boy’ is streaming now on Max.

I know! Men like that disgust me. Like how can you abandon your child like that. It’s one thing to not acknowledge a child as their own. But to do what he did…hell nah. Idc if he found Jesus and genuinely wants to make amends. It would be very hard for me to let him into my life as a father. The damage is already done. She’s an adult now. When she needed him most he wasn’t there. Thank God she has Travis.

it's interesting that she and I have opposite problems, her dad was absent but she has all the financial security. My Dad was the best most loving most hard working most self sacrificial dad but I def have financial worries and stresses, can't get a dishwasher fixed, bedroom pipes making banging noises so I can't sleep. Can't afford a house on my own etc. Would I trade my dad for financial security ? no, because he shows me what true love is. but yah finances and security can be hard too.

I, I , I, is all he is saying. Just like a lot of people he only cares about himself and regardless of his child being an adult now. If he had a young child he would probably still be absent now. A lot of people don’t like having to be a parent of around kids. They prefer them as adult children. It’s nice to see how forgiving she is. He is the one who missed out not her.

What this young girl, Atiana, Oscar's daughter, doesn't understand is that she was able to live a life of privilege, private school and driving a luxury car at 15 or 16 years old because of the sacrifices that her father made in the ring. She has no idea what's it's like to go without and everyone can't say that. I understand her perspective and when she's older and has her own children she will better understand and be a little more grateful for her dad even though he wasn't around much. He walked the " burning sands " so his kids wouldn't have to.
