In partnership with FaveHealthyRecipes, I wanted to finally make this classic "Induction Friendly" low carb recipe for my KZfaq videos. Just making the standard recipe was not going to be good enough plus I like a little more heat in mine. I combine two favorite foods together and rethink the classic. This is very similar to what I get at Mongolian grills too.
For even more healthy entree recipes, FaveHealthyRecipes has an ever expanding section of low carb entree recipes. ( www.favehealthyrecipes.com/beef )

I LOVE children, don't you? From 1:32 to the 'grand finale' around 1:59 Kent's little darling is doing some interpretive dance with his reflection in the micro, while dad's earnestly cooking away... That was the best, most organic laugh I had this week.

My son has sometimes boundless energy and loves to ham it up for the camera, and I appreciate his youthful exuberance. I have to laugh at watching a ghost television show, and then seeing him in the microwave. I did of course remind him that he might distract people in the future, but he thinks he wants to add easter eggs in future videos. I told him easter eggs have to be more hidden.

The original crack slaw recipe had even more Asian flavor with ginger in it too, and potentially Chinese 5-spice seasoning too. If I was heading for a more Asian flavors, I would toss some of those spices in it too. I am glad you liked the idea...

As for your second question, I stopped having soda for almost 1.5 years after starting the Atkins Diet, but I would have things like crystal light or flavored sparkling water (most often) for a change of pace from just water. Since that time, I have added soda back into my diet, which is not necessarily prescriptive but just my reality. I haven't noticed a detriment currently from the soda consumption after reaching goal.

The little bit of green onion was simply for color for the photos, but you could definitely add them. A couple stalks of green onion would not dramatically change the carbohydrate counts though.

I was watching a ghost show on TV, then paused it to check KZfaq and found you had a new video (Yay!) so I'm watching and then this unexpected figure shows up in the microwave and I shrieked. wow, that looks delicious, and I can smell it too!! I think I could easily make this, I am heading out to the store tomorrow, and I was wondering, is that hot sauce what gives it a kick..because I am loving cayenne pepper right now..and was wondering if I could use that instead of the hot sauce..either way..I am for sure going to make this recipe-My Chinese-American daughter in-law will love this too..wow..how exciting it is to make good food, so easily and all in a short time-Thanks Kent!

If you are concerned about sodium, you might want to use Coconut amnios. They are about 113 mg per serving and can be used somewhat interchangeably with soy sauce.

Well then I am especially glad I picked this recipe to do tonight. After you make it, let me know what you think... Quest bars would IMO be left for after Induction. Anything with nuts are post Induction first 14 days thing, and then I would add them slowly to evaluate your weight loss both before and after. In reading their ingredients, they look "normal" or not highly processed, but I have a healthy bit of skepticism for these products. If I was to eat a bar though, I'd probably eat Quest.

As with any fiber, gradually ease into consuming it and make sure you are having enough water or you can cause some retention. Your body needs the hydration to make things keep flowing through the system so to speak. With Crystal Light and limit of 3 sweeteners per day, I went with 16oz as being a single serving, so you'd be allowed 48 or so ounces per day with no other sweeteners.

Absolutely on the cayenne pepper. There are some people who believe in thermogenic nature of those hot peppers in this crack slaw to spur the whooshie fairy in visiting the next day and eat this recipe to see a lower weight on the scale. I am not convinced that simply eating peppers helps, but it certainly can't hurt either. :-)

It's fun to see clips of folks making this... Everyone seems to put their own mark on it. I'm curious what you see is the difference between a low carb diet vs Atkins diet? I've just started low carb with 20 NET carbs a day and intermittent fasting of 17/7 ..
@bowulf
@bowulf 6 жыл бұрын
I think the biggest difference between a general ketogenic / low carb diet and Atkins is the regimented rules set (which carbs compose those 20g net carbs) and provides a means to generally readd carbs/food groups to the level the individual can tolerate. If that is 20, 50, or 100g of carbs, the person is generally set for success rather than hit goal and figure it out for themselves. I think it generally works better to have a plan to start from than a general idea of what it is.

If you search Atkins Diet and supplements on KZfaq, you'll find the video I posted on this topic. I talk a little about the dosage of L-Carnitine and CoQ-10 -- 200-300mg is a good starting for a daily dose. There are some megadose ones out there, but my feeling is to start small, but more than the 50mg dose bottles.

This is a little off topic for this particular video, but I had a question that I wanted to directly ask you. I am doing Atkins currently, and am almost through with my induction phase. Ive done extremely well in this phase, but am considering switching over to a 60day juice fasting. This is pretty much an all vegetable diet which I have to assume is still low carb, so I'm curious as to what you think of this. After the fast, and reaching my desired weight, I would pursue an Atkins lifestyle.

Hi Kent, I am going to be making this in the next day or so.. It looks so so good. My son started to lowcarb with me so I won't be making it very spicy since he doesn't like things too hot. How many servings was this. Also can you eat low carb or no carb foods between the 3 main meals? Thank you for ou, nice job 😊
@bowulf
@bowulf 6 жыл бұрын
Makes a total of 6 servings. Yes you can snack in between the meals. I would just caution focusing too much on snacking as that is one of the reasons I added the pounds back in the regain -- I was snacking too much. If you are going to snack, my recommedation would be to eat real food (like a salad ) rather than a dessert like treat.

If I remember correctly, I think you did a pizza video using cauliflower . Have you tried the Cheese Is The New Bread recipe? I definitely recommend it. :)
@bowulf
@bowulf 5 жыл бұрын
I never did a cauliflower pizza crust -- I've done meat skillets, cheese crusts but not been happy enough with the cauliflower attempts to film it. I did make a cheese bread recipe back in 2010 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9Cdgpdzrq60mJ8.html ) that I was pretty happy with at the time. I will be on the look out for that recipe you spoke of and compare the two.

I am not convinced on the danger of Splenda, but that said the choice of sweetener is one of personal choice. I would however caution you with Agave syrup though if one is sensitive to sugars and blood glucose changes. Agave syrup is essentially fructose syrup similar to HFCS. All the dangers of HFCS are found in it. Again my videos are targeting people sensitive to sugars (simple like fructose or sucrose) and are avoiding it. Putting real sugar in it obviously is not in the plan.

Actually juicing is taking some of the good out of the vegetables -- the fiber, and just extracting the higher GI juice (loaded with glucose, sucrose, and fructose -- depending on the fruit/vegetables). Most juicing diets are almost strictly carbohydrates (90-100%), so in almost all regards it is the anti-Atkins approach. There are some people that are certainly successful on it, but I don't think I could be. I am more in favor of consistent approach as it will lead to long term results.

That is the reason I post the sweetener equivalent. I personally can't stand Stevia -- tried many brands, so I try to give the equivalent sweetness to match. Nothing works as well as liquid sucralose for me, and not convinced about the dangers of it in the amounts I use.
