No sarcasm here, but I legitimately love the contrast between half the schools having new barns compared to the ones that look like they host high school hockey

Yeah it’s a usually programs that are smaller schools but many programs are getting more competitive so they might be developing a few more in the future. AIC once beat a #1 ranked team during the playoffs which is impressive

@@danielflynn8530 Don’t forget Holy Cross knocking off Minnesota way back when! I always root for the AHA teams in the Frozen Four, and they’ve got some decent depth

@@barbarian92 Air Force had a good run one year as well. I’m on the same page about AHA teams because they have to compete against schools with NHL 1st round draft picks and at best AHA teams may have a 5th to 7th rounder to no zero draft picks. Imagine staying competitive against teams like that. Michigan had 7 1st round draft picks on one team.

Great video, though i have to point something out. LECOM is an acronym for Lake Erie Center of Osteopathic Medicine. We're definitely not saying it with a French accent, LOL (I'm from the Buffalo suburbs). More useless or interesting (depending on your view of it) facts: Harborcenter is an interesting place, as it is a 2 rink arena and part of the building also serves as a parking garage and entrance to KeyBank Center, which is directly across the street, via a 3rd floor walkway. It has the hotel you mentioned, as well as a few small shops and restaurants in the exterior of the building as well. It is the practice facility of the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL, the original home of the Buffalo Beauts in the NWHL/PHF (2015-2023), as well as is the home of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the OJHL and the Erie Community College Kats hockey teams.

So, looks like your saving Hockey East for last! Also there are six independent D1 hockey schools! LIU, Alaska-Fairbanks, Alaska-Anchorage, Arizona State, Stonehill, and Lindenwood!

AIC does live up to the name of international - they have the most players from outside North America of any NCAA D1 program.

That Air Force building is huge. Separate basketball arena, Hockey arena, and field house that has a football field. It’s huge.

I used to live in Colorado Springs but I was on the other side of it at Fort Carson and most weekends I would go to World Arena to watch Colorado College play. The new facility looks great 👍 and reminds me of Mattire Family arena for SHU because the open windows are very similar and the seating layout.

@@danielflynn8530 Nice. I was a DU student and went to most of the DU/CC games at the Broadmore WA. What a shoebox that place was. Late season game 83/84 in the springs got contentious and some Old guy CC fan pushed me and as I went forward to retaliate, the DU ppl near me grabbed me and pulled me back. The fight was noted in the paper.

I’ve been to Mattire familiar arena it’s a very nice facility with reasonable seat pricing. I have also seen AIC play in the MassMutual center and they share it with the AHL team the Springfield Thunderbirds I remember years ago mentioning why not move AIC into that building and the following year they did hmmmmmm maybe I caused the spark.

Looks like the capacity that you gave for the Cadet Ice Arena was the capacity for the basketball arena. The ice arena is a separate arena within the same building that only seats 2500.

Martire Family Arena home of Sacred Heart is beautiful! Canisius with all the wood has some character. After some of the other conferences where every arena is a work of art this conference didn't match up. Mercyhurt, Niagara, Holy Cross, Robert Morris need new ones!

Agree! It’s tough though because they are smaller schools that don’t get much funding. Since Holy Cross has a pretty nice ballpark and it’s close to Polar Park in Worcester I think they could get it done most likely. I wouldn’t be surprised they do within the next 5 years.

@@danielflynn8530 I'm not a big expert on American colleges but I should think Holy Cross has the clout and boosters to get something done. These are smaller schools as you say but as Sacred Heart has shown they can still do something spectacular. Even if they can't go to that level a building with seats on both sides of the ice would be nice. Easy for me to say I know.

Can there be a The wide world of stadiums t-shirt? "My stadium was featured on the WWofS", "My stadium decoration are trees and that's why it's better than yours", "I don't respect people that don't talk about Latvian division 2/Highland league/Aha arenas/stadiums"...
