Full Lyrics:
I don’t know who I am
Baby, baby, baby,
Do you know who you are?
Is it out of our hands?
Tell me, tell me, tell me,
How we made it this far?
Did we unravel a long time ago?
Is there too much that we don’t want to know?
I wish it was easy, but it isn’t so
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Now where do we stand?
Baby, baby, baby,
No one knows who you are
And if this was your plan,
Tell me tell me why
You’ve been crying in the dark
We unraveled a long time ago
We lost and we couldn’t let it go
I wish it was easy, but it isn’t so
So baby,
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
How did we get here?
How do we get out?
We used to be something to see
But, baby, look at us now
Baby, look at us now
This thing we been doin’
Ain’t working out
Why can’t you just admit it to me?
Oh baby, look at us now
Oh, baby, look at us now
Oh baby, look at us now
Oh baby, look at us now
Oh baby, look at us now
How did we get here? How do we get out?
This thing we been doin’
Ain’t working out
Oh,
How did we get here?
How do we get out?
We used to be something to see
Oh, baby, look at us now
Baby, look at us now
This thing we been doin’
Ain’t working out
Why can’t you just admit it to me?
Baby, look at us now
Baby, look at us now
Oh, we could make a good thing bad
Oh, we could make a good thing bad

The lyrics are actually really good but the music??? The sounds??? Hello??? So good and addictive. It sounds like there are three different songs combined. This is why the song fits for so many different moods and situations. The “It's an album you can play at a party. It's an album you get high to. It's an album you can play as you're speeding down the highway. But then you listen to the lyrics and you realizes this is and album you can cry to. And it's an album you can get laid to. For every moment of your life, in 1978, Aurora could play in the background” thing is very well honored.

I thought this was so clever and probably the best aspect of the show - it would have been just another mini series without this attention to detail. The music and the voices brought you to that time and put you in TJR head - you immediately know where the original germ of this story came from. It sent me down the Fleetwood Mac rabbit hole for the second time this year.

I am *floored* that "Daisy Jones" got so many (well-deserved) Emmy noms but not one single song was honored, most especially this one. It's truly one of the greatest pop songs of the last decade, never mind last TV season. It captures the feel of the show perfectly and sounds timeless as well as 70s-influenced. I am just absolutely gutted.

For younger fans of the show who would not be familiar with the pre Fleetwood Mac era,, I do suggest that you all listen to the "Buchingham / Nicks" album. (Before they joined Fleetwood Mac). The music there is identical.(The Buckingham / Nicks album is from 1973. It has a black and white picture of the two on it ). I'm lucky enough to have both the vinyl (bought in 1973) and the CD (bought around 2017).

I roadied for them in '79. One night I had to find 1000 brown M&Ms otherwise Daisy wouldn't go onstage.

In just hearing the song, you can hear the emotion behind their voices. You can just feel the tension and the feelings they have towards each other in the song. I think this song perfectly represents their relationship in the show. I love it!!

God this takes me back. I was like, 17? Had to be, since this was released in like 1975 or so. Anyways, I vaguely remember working after hours at this little summer job I had back then to save up and buy that album. Got it, and when I did, I remember rushing home, almost got into a crash in my little dinky pickup truck 😅 then put it on my mother’s stereo and she couldn’t drag me away from it. Absolutely hypnotized me… pretty sure I eventually forgot it was on and went to get dinner at a restaurant and ruined both the record and her stereo… she was PISSED 😂 needless to say all comes to an end. But the good thing was I didn’t need to save up to buy it AGAIN since it played on the radio ENDLESSLY.. and because my mom would never let me touch a record player again 😂 good times, good times. Can’t believe I’m 65 now, good god
