"And how does that benefit your fellow man?" I don't like Rearden's response. the correct (IMO) response is, "that's not my concern. As I said, I don't exist for my value to other people. I am not a slave"

@@cyricthemad311 The whole goofy movie is worse than the book. They should have stuck with the original line up in the movie. This 3 part thing was a disaster. Ayn Rand envisioned this as a TV mini series. Not a half-assed 3 part movie.

@@morsecode2112 all three movies were crowdfunded. The actors involved practically worked for free. Hollywood wouldn't touch it. No network then or now would touch it. So while I agree the movies are an incredibly poor representation of the source, at least they exist, and by existing, others may read the book and hopefully wake up to the sh*tshow around them.

So from what I'm understanding, the government is trying to create a fair economy to all class of the public. But in order to do that people like Henry, Dagny and this John Galt guy need to stop innovating things that might actually help the economy unless they agree to not keep the profits they make from these inventions. Am i right or did i miss a bigger picture?

Henry Reardon is on trial here for selling his patented steel to Ken Dannagher (who owns a mining company) without government permission. At this point the government has seized all patents and has claimed ownership. Dagney is trying to figure out why a multitude of successful business owners, people like Reardan, have disappeared without a trace. John Galt has created a country in secret where people are free to produce and trade what they produce without government interference.

@cyricthemad311 But if his steel can actually help the economy, then what difference does it make whither or not he owns it. Who he sells it too I'd his business and his rights

@@devonmartinez4961 The government obstructed his creation and sale of his metal. They want to use it for their own nefarious purposes, but he wont' sell to them. He was supposed to sell to them before to Danager, who merely needed the steel to keep his coal mines from collapsing... coal used in the creation and transport of steel...
