Why they play on the short side with two players outside and on the long side with one? the graphic shows it correct.

Hi. This is the game the coach planned. As you wrote. There are a total of 6 neutral players. Maybe it's about a striker (number 9) and a defensive midfielder (number 6) on one side. And on the other side there are players in positions 3, 2, 11 and 7. That is, defenders and midfielders.
