We were a little underwhelmed with the Atom RC Dolphin. It's not bad but it's not good either. On the recommended CG balance point and neutral control surfaces it wanted to climb and on landing it wouldn't slow down. The stall at 30 kmh is a violent wing drop which is surprising with the shape of the wing. Strange because this has had good reviews on other channels. In the sky it is slippery and quick and reasonably aerobatic. We'll work on it and see if we can get it to fly better.

I don't have this plane but I'm wondering if there is a CG issue as you can see from the video that both elevons are trimmed down a couple of mm which is the opposite of what you would normally see for a flying wing. This seems consistent with the video description citing a climbing tendency with neutral surfaces. I would try pushing the battery FWD. Good luck!

Great video, we see that you have mastered your subject. Your remark concerning the Dolphin is surprising, this model is often cited for its stability. Maybe a centering issue? Could you share your 3D print for the DJI camera?

@@EssentialRC not that i know of, i know there are a couple on the other side of the city to me, i live in rural victoria australia, a place called ballan, its about an hour from the city, there is one rc park i know of too about an hour and a half away from me, but i mostly fly at home or at one of the local resivours

Carl has done a couple of power upgrades to existing EDF jets. We'll share those soon. Otherwise for new EDF nothing really exciting out there at the moment. That new E-Flite Viperjet is silly expensive for what it is. We do have a couple of exciting fixed wing FPV projects coming very soon. As you saw flew my big Avanti XS for the first time. We'll improve that with Lion and intake ducting over next few weeks. Plenty of stuff coming...and lots of new video available for Members (hint hint)

I only flew 5" freestyle, but now i'm interested in fpv wings. can u recommend me some model? atomrc dolphin, zohd talon, zohd dart? maybe i will fly it for some semi-long range and some acro.

It shines on 6S. Say 2810 / 1800KV / 6045, and it reaps.

Yes, with only the wing, and no stabilizer to speak of.. and in order to have some marginal pitch stability, the wing airfoil will have to be severely compromised for CL, and so it would have a high stall speed. some small canards up front, and a higher lift airfoil would prob cure it.

And I've flown both fixed wing and multirotor. But there is something about the fixed wing that is so elegant and relaxing and chilling to fly with. I am an avid quadcopter racer and I like enjoy it more than fixed wing. But fixed wing will always be the core of my heart.

Nice plane , but launch something on 34kph by hand is on the edge and maybe that's why people feel this plane under-powered. Do you have R9 on board? What range did you get?

Why are you flying in a field surrounded by trees? Doesn't it wreak havoc with your video feed when you're not flying them around your head?

Hehehe....sometimes you wonder don't you. I've had a plane that other reviewers hammered but actually flew well for me. I've flown planes that reviewers gave glowing reviews to that I didn't think were very good. I once watched a reviewer crash a plane three times during his review video and still claimed it was a great flying plane. If I remember correctly he was holding pieces of the cowling in his hand at the time he stated that ;-) You never know. See you in the Air!

Been looking at this model but not into fpv etc just old fashioned flying so maybe wasted on me, you say some people say it’s under powered ? I can’t find anyone who says that the opposite really? 80mph out of the box isn’t bad. Now l don’t know whether to get the kit and put my own stuff in or go with out of the box pnp , after your review because l can’t abide under powered models . Are you sure it wasn’t a dud motor you were landed with? Or are you just talking about launching because you don’t get much thrust with that 5” prop need to give it a really good chuck.

Worst wing we have flown and difficult to consistently hand launch. There are better wings.

Ok fair enough, haha just ordered one ! I have a fun jet radjet mpx dogfighter another fast pylon type racer can’t remember the name off hand **** xtra ? All supposed to be difficult to launch but l honestly have never really had a problem. Going to put my own motor in this that takes a 7” prop lot more thrust for launch not as noisy as well. Think the shape of this thing doesn’t help as well. Cheers mate
