Your metric for judging a professional display is just "it looks appealing"?? There's not a word about colour accuracy, SDR/HDR performance, FALD blooming etc. Please do colorimeter measurements when you review displays, especially monitors at this price range and used for on-set/post-production reference.

Wait... so there's no HDMI/SDI ports on the monitor itself... you have to use the fiddly thing? Does it even come with SDI?

Do you have any guidance for finding a super bright monitor without all the bells and whistles? I only need brightnesses (anything from 17-21" --ideally 17")? I cant find anything to fit the bill outside of this one and the Osee (which is way overkill).

I've got both the Sumo and the Neon 17". I was surprised by how limited the Neon was compared to the Sumo. So, the Sumo can be powered via V-mount; the Neon can't. The Sumo has touchscreen control; the Neon has the app, or the remote control button bar unit (RCBBU). And that app frequently loses connection with the monitor, so you have to go through the process of connecting them again. The Sumo has four SDI in, one HDMI in, one SDI out, one HDMI out, and one timecode port, as well as two XLR in and two XLR out; the Neon has 1 SDI and 1 HDMI input, and 1 SDI and 1 HDMI output, and they're not built in. They're on the "master control unit". The Neon records in 4K, while the Sumo doesn't. So, on paper, maybe the Sumo largely wins! Which monitor would I use for grading? Probably the Neon. I haven't put them side by side, but it feels like it's simply easier to grade off the Neon. It's easier to see what you're working with. So, you're basically paying a fair bit more money for better display technology but less functionality.

not sure what Atomos is selling, here. Calibration of my Neon 24 reveals a really serious lack of color saturation, making it practically impossible to calibrate correctly. It can't make Rec709 primaries in SDR mode.

A phone app is just plain stupid in a busy studio or on-set environment, plus, there are situations where phones are banned or have to be turned off. Also, it means your phone has to be set to not go into sleep mode and is hard-powered. The impractical list goes on. The Swit has the controls where you need them and in an immediately accessible format to more people than just the phone's owner.
