I am trying to go through all the comments! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and take part of these interesting conversations! Two things for those wondering about this clip: 1) While my aim is not good, I was trying to shoot the crow but the game (or Odin) wouldn’t let me release the arrow until I shifted away from it. 😂 2) Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but my only assumption I can get based on the games was when Baldur said during the chase “and when the bridge opens, the full weight of Asgard will come crashing down on you.” This would imply that it was already broken and that Baldur’s purpose, since he couldn’t be killed, was to kill them with the water and debris from the broken gate once they traveled to Asgard. Kratos switched the destination to Hellheim before the gates opened, which may explain why they were crashing down since the gates opened before aligning to the realm.

when garm was released Odin said they were safe in asgard but everywhere else would have problems. fenrir could only travel to asgard after they used gjallarhorn.

It’s hard to keep track of who can do what in this game, albeit it might be intentional. For example, Mimir states that not even Odin could survive Hel’s cold, yet he was able to cast a spell to keep Atreus, Heimdal, and Thrud warm. The bifrost was said to be the only way to travel through the realms until the dwarves found a workaround with Mimir’s eyes. Freya was said to be trapped in Midgard, yet she discovered that she could travel to other realms as long as she was in her bird form, before they destroyed the world tree’s roots.

I’m confused. In the final battle, they walk through Tyrs temple to enter Asgard, yet they don’t arrive at the realm travel tower, like Sindri, nor do they arrive at the temple bridge, like in 2018.

Remember Freya saying Hrimthur made a weakness in the Asgard Realm Tower that Surtur would know to use? I say this weakness is why you get near Hrimthur's wall during the end after Gjallarhorn was sound.

To be fair, they did the exact same thing in 2018 too when we first travel to Jotunheim. No bridge, no longer walk to destination. Just magically where you need to be, for convenience sake. Wasn't a problem then, so why would it be now?

I think at the end of the day there are simply multiple ways to travel between the realms. Jormungandr showed up at Ragnarok completely out of nowhere. Apparently he's big enough to climb the world tree all by himself. Odin uses ravens for travel. Through the entire game we use Yggdrasil seeds for traveling via portals (not a single time Tyrs temple needed for that). Maybe that same seed allowed a portal to simply pop up anywhere. After all the realms opened at once, maybe all the portals all opened at once too. We just wouldnt notice because story mode wouldnt allow us to.

Well this is a continuity error. The game literally tells us in the last game that you can’t go to Asgard just because Odin has locked off travel to that realm. Also Baldur was opening the realm tower to Asgard when he kidnapped Atreus. He even says “and when the bridge opens up, the full weight of Asgard will come crashing down on you.”

My guess is it could have been a more recent thing with it being destroyed. Perhaps once fimbulwinter began, Odin had it destroyed, thinking it would help in ragnarok

Is the implication here only confusing me? It was kind of implied that only Midgard needed the realm travel towers because it was at the center of all the realms. We don't see the realm towers in other realms like Alfheim, Niflheim, Helheim, etc. but we are still able to travel there from any realm. But here it implies that every realm needs to have the same layout as Midgard's where Tyr's temple is there in the center, and the realm towers for each realm all surround it? Idk.

@@drsupermonk7831 imo they needed to do something like what they did with far cry 5 where they separated the whole story in two games, they could have named the current game God of war Ragnarok Part 1 and Heimdall should have been the final boss of that first part and for the second part they could have focused on the climax of the Ragnarok battle and do something more elaborate and that didn't feel so rushed

Because what Gjallahorn did was open all of the gates, but Tyr's temple was destroyed, so I think it sent Kratos and his allies through a random Gate lol. But Gjallahorn means Ragnarök, so it probably did

@@MGrey-qb5xz Presumably Baldur's death is a catalyst for Fimbulwinter, which is a precursor to Ragnarok. Ragnarok was an event that would destroy Asgard upon it's completion. Prophecy states that upon Ragnarok's completion Life would start Anew, so its safe to say that Fimbulwinter would end when Ragnarok completes.

This didn't make sense. Odin was aware that Heimdall's horn would open realm travel in all of the realms at the same time, so the logical thing would have been to destroy all the towers instead of the main temple. We see in the previous game that if a tower is missing, realm travel is impossible, so why would he keep the towers intact so close to his city?

I dont think the realm towers are necessary for the gjallahorn to open realms, so i think the only possible way for odin to stop the invasion that he didn’t do in the game is to destroy the frickin’ horn, of course unless it is indestructible. Odin certainly does not need it since he had crows and knowing what kratos did to baldur, he surely knows that heimdall can not keep it secure.

Strange that in God of war 2018 Baldur When he kidnapped Atreus/Loki He activated the bridge to go to Asgard how is this possible if Asgard was destroyed there? Yes. It is super weird. He could have told Thor to destroy those at any point and it would be even easier. The war machines were in the mini people area. After you fused the red lava guy with blade of chaos, there is a mention that all of the devices are gone as Odin took them to Asgard

It’s because this team didn’t know what they were doing and the game was probably rushed together in the last 8 months. Odin was with them every step of the way, learned everything they were going to do and how and when they were going to do it. And still didn’t prepare for it. Gjallerhorn started Ragnarok and didn’t just “signal” it. Yet he had Heimdall hold onto it knowing full well Kratos planned on killing him and even knew how Kratos was going to kill him. This game makes no sense whatsoever

I don't think this was the reason. In GOW 2018 when Atreus was kidnapped by Balbur, Baldur took Atreus to Tyr's temple in Midgard to travel to Asgard. He said to Kratos "The entire weight of Asgard will be against you"
