In this American Truck Simulator Let's Play career episode, we continue our long haul, longest journey, going from Key West Florida to our ultimate goal, Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. We complete the third leg of the journey, as we haul an bulldozer from Pittsburg, Kansas to Lethbridge, Canada.
In this career save, we are exploring the ATS world with map mods, having added in Arizona Rebuild, Reforma Mexico, Coast to Coast, the Great Mid-North Expansion, and ProMods Canada. We are exploring the Caribbean now.

As a truck driver now a days I look for places where I have access to a bathroom to sleep at, so mainly truck stops, but I have slept at rest areas, also some shippers and receivers, with my last company they pushed us hard where there was times i slept in dirt lots, closed down businesses or pull of areas on the highway. But i have never slept on the onramps and off ramps on the highways, one its dangerous second of all its illegal and you could get ticketed for it. Even thought you will see some truckers doing it .

Very, interesting, thanks! I was thinking that it would make a lot of sense to be able to sleep at a shipper and receiver location.

Im a car dweller (live out of my car) and everywhere i drive, truckers sleep anywhere. Of course, i mainly only see this on the west coast. Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Montana, Nevada, Arizona.

Interesting! It certainly would seem that there would be at least one place to sleep in an entire city. :)

I don’t know what happened at the border there. In real life, there would be a border crossing and you would have to check in to customs, but there was no border crossing. I hope they add a real border crossing like the one found in Promods.

The 19mph speed limit was an odd one for sure. I've also been known to completely ignore speed limits where it doesn't make any sense and just hope for the best!

Yes, 19mph for that stretch of road was bizarre. I suspect the stretch up to Calgary will be the same way so I might end up doing the same thing as you: Hitting the gas and hoping for the best. :)

As for someone that doesn’t have a cdl you can drive a truck, I haven’t seen any places that you can take a truck out for a day to drive around, theress Penske which one you would have to have a cdl and a account with them, but if someone has cash laying around you can buy and drive a truck as long as its gvwr is below 26,001. So you could get a truck with a sleeper as long as you don’t hook it up to a trailer and haul freight, just take the 5th wheel off and drive it like a car everywhere, but registering and getting insurance for it might be a pain, most of the places when you will give them the vin they will say its a commercial vehicle and will want to register it and insure it as that. You would have to find someone that would accept it as for non commercial use.

Yeah I did a truck driving experience here in the UK about 8 years ago. Best £50 I ever spent. It was done on an airfield so plenty of space to drive. They now offer experiences in American trucks like your Kenworth but they're cab only which is a shame.

Very nice! That sounds awesome. To me the appealing part would be pulling and parking a trailer. I'd not be super interested in just driving the cab.

@@ZillaBlitzPC no, that's why I picked a European one, it was hooked up to a full length 3 axle trailer

Pretty sure those speed limit signs are for cars. I know of nowhere that has speed limits for trucks of 70/80 mph. 🚚 In most parts of the world the National Speed limit sign takes care of that. The same sign can mean 70mph for cars and 56/60mph for trucks.

Many Midwest and western states have 75-80 mph speeds for trucks and cars

Yeah, I think speed limits tend to vary quite a bit in the US, but I confess I don't know the subtleties between truck and auto limits.

I prefer the sleep less work more mod, shorter nights and less sleep needed in general. Not sure if I want Canada, I'd have the same problem with 19 miles an hour that you did...lol ... nice solution though.

I was pretty certain we were going to get a record-setting speeding ticket there. I don't think I've ever gone that much over the speed limit before. :)

Just a matter of time before the speed fines kicked in ha ha ha. Liked your story of the truck you noticed not taking the turns and I've found myself doing the same over the months noticing things like that because of ATS/ETS. Get the 'Sleep less work more' mod it lets you drive longer before needing sleep, especially handy in these longer haul jobs especially when doing non WoT jobs. Welcome to Canada home of slow speeds.
@ZillaBlitzPC
@ZillaBlitzPC 5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I really should try that mod. It's not so much the sleeping but when the rest areas are spread out so far apart it makes it challenging to sort out. And I know, right? Who knew that Canadians drive so slowly?

The general scale of the game is 19-1, so states in the game are generally much smaller than they are in real life, with only a small sample of the cities and total area. :)
