Westjet rule. The person (POA) leading the flight has to do the walk around no matter how many times someone has done it.

Most crews do their walk around while your loading the A/C! And walk around policies might be different ?
@Bukkshot95
@Bukkshot95 4 ай бұрын
The crews on the aircraft’s I work tend to do their walk around check while we’re still loading. So in other words, they would likely not see this as it would t be there when they do their walk around. Majority of the time that’s a good 20 mins before our grounds crew does their final walk around, after all equipment has been removed. Check doors, panels, for damages, etc. Still, it is vitally important to always be aware and take your time, while still being quick. Never cut corners. Much rather a flight go out a minute or two late, than not at all, or worse, it goes out and crashes. When I took my loading supervisor class, they taught us about CYA “Cover Your Ass” That loading supervisor did not cover his own ass by letting someone else to his Pre-Departure Check, if that was specifically his job. Lots of lessons learned in this video really
@tjburton4731
@tjburton4731 2 ай бұрын
Yeah. As a pushback driver I always wait until all the equipment is away from the plane and all bins are closed before I do the final walk around. We check for stuff like that

This happened to me in 1990 are ramp loader died and the Supervisor borrowed another from a different airline and assumed he checked it out , he didn’t I chalked the loader turned up the belt and started to feed the inside person then it happened the belt loader by vibrating ran into the outer skin tore a 2 foot hole on the side. You can only imagine what I felt. Told the Supervisor on the ramp he accepted no responsibilities and I solely took the fall 30 days suspension . I felt bad wasn’t like me to make a mistake. What a lasting memory. The inconvenience for all those passengers.

Why would you have to turn up the belt first of all? In a hurry? Don't like the person in the bin? Poorly trained?

David Nganga The airline Captain/First Officer always do walk arounds prior to passenger boarding, or currently boarding the passengers onto the flight, not when the flight is ready to pushback and start.

At our station both the pilots and ramp agents do an arrival andpre-departuree walk around.
@superfast30
@superfast30 2 жыл бұрын
Pilot does the walk around about 15-20 min before departure. Most times, the crew is still loading. The crew lead does the final walk around. I dont know what policy ats has for walkaround but the lead should be the one doing it, not the station attendant!

Wouldn't the captain or fo do a walk around check before start? They should've seen the engine damage. But yes, ground crew has to report any damage or malfunction. The aviation industry works round the clock like a perfect well oiled machine and safety is the utmost priority. So this video totally makes sense.

In some airlines it's the pilot who does the walkaround, other airlines it's the ground crew if a mechanic is available.

The training at ATS is pathetic. I'm surprised more planes don't go down when they touch them. The station I worked at couldn't hire people that were smart enough to count properly and they screwed up the center of gravity a few times on multiple flights.
