10 reasons why you may want to attach a bike trailer / trolley:
1. Kids
2. Solar panels /& Battery to charge your EUC
3. You don't want to carry a backpack
4. Food delivery / takeout
5. Camping supplies
6. Pets
7. Groceries
8. Beach days / Bonfires
9. Sports gear
10. Carrying another EUC / kids bicycles

Having tried this a while ago, I’ll caution you to be very careful with putting passengers in the back. The added weight pulls the rear of the euc down and gives the impression that the wheel always wants to brake. Depending on what pressure your tire is at, it could induce wobbles really easily. Use a low tire pressure if you want to avoid this .Also if your passenger doesn’t sit still, you will absolutely be able to feel every movement they make. A child that is strapped into the seat probably won’t be a problem but my dog was super excited when I put her in the trailer and kept shifting her weight from one side of the carriage to the other. I could feel every time she did it and it constantly destabilized the wheel. I won’t tell you not to do it, just be aware of the risk that you’re putting yourself and your passenger in when you rig up something like this.

@@eucfamily I'm going to attempt to this spring. My Begode Master has the torque to do it. I'll get a few of those dog seat belts that attach to the harnesses to minimize movement. 80lbs of dogs moving in different directions can be hazardous haha. This will open up more group ride operrunities if I can bring my other 1/2 and the pugs to them. Keep an eye on my KZfaq channel. I'll be uploading videos of it.

bicycle trailers have hitches that attach to bicycle frames. have you considered attaching that end to that frame on your EUC? There appears to be a bolt that could be used as an attach point? Or am i missing something?

Attachment should be as close to the axle as possible not to interfere with braking and acceleration behavior. But also as close to ground as possible to not interfere with turning behavior. As an EUC have 2 different pivot points, axle for pith, and ground for roll, it is impossible to get it good for both. I actually think putting it on your own waist could be the best place as you are not rigid and can compensate in both pitch and roll comming from the trailer.

@eucfamily
@eucfamily Жыл бұрын
Sure, there is risk involved. Maybe it's better that you are transporting your stuff and you're better off not involving your children. But that's up to you. I've been taking it slow, and I respect / limits of the machine, so I've never had a cutoff. So far, all good vibes. But I've heard it said, EUC's are for the brave... I'm curious, do you ride? Or are you just theoretical? Because it doesn't seem any more unsafe to me than pulling the trailer behind me on a bike.
Жыл бұрын
PS... braking hard while turning will be totally messy. So I suggest test that to before kids in the trailer, or just make sure all hard braking is done straight.

i am wondering if a better attach point would be closer to the wheel hub bold on the side of the EUC? looks like the wheel hub bolt horizontal center line would be a few inches above the foot rests? I had been considering getting an EUC with suspension and a seat.. but one of factors I wanted to work out is being able to haul things from a grocery store and other places.. I will monitor youtube for other videos on others and their ideas on how they mount a bicycle trailer to their EUC.

Wouldn't the best way to do it be to have some kind of half crescent going around the sides of the wheel to the wheels axel position so it never pulls down or at an angle right?
@eucfamily
@eucfamily Жыл бұрын
That might work, but some give and pull helps for maneuvering
@manp1039

i was thinking something similar.. i was thinking something that is centered horizonaly with the wheel hub bolt. Sometimes what i have done if i don't have an explicit attachment point.. i would use bungee cord wrapped very tightly to create an attachment to the side of the frame, but that also gives some flexibility when making turns or tilting my bicycle

I have thousands of km on that s18. I do not recommend this at all. Not saying the s18 is not a capable EUC, I'm saying not with any EUC. Also it is not a good idea to do this with a scooter either. Delete this idea trust me.

It amazes me how people are so negative. There is nothing inherently wrong with this. It's a trailing weight, which means even if it's unstable it won't just instantly ruin your day. And if it's ruined days you don't want... well I should probably stop jumping my wheel and taking it off-road in general.

@@eucfamily I just hooked one up behind my V12 where the stand bolts to the back. I found my trailer in a house my roommate bought. @@eucfamily its not like I haven't carried ladders on the euc. And can see the benefit you propose. But the single wheel form factor , it's size. This has made it second nature to me. When I'm in my truck and towing, I'm in trouble, when second nature kicks in. Because that's excatly when you dont account for the trailer. Now you may not have had an issue with clearance yet. And I say yet because you've increased your odds now of a mishap, simply by attaching it. Versus me holding it and can detach instantly if I feel a tug or see a problem ahead. If on a narrow path and 1 wheel of the trailer slips and begins pulling the trailer down the embankment, I disengage, as where your euc is affected then you respond. Zero disrespect, but I've been using segway mini pros for land scape work over 5 years now. And I know it's only a matter of time, and it was really in regards to having the kids in tow. Where a very close follower on Instagram did this very same thing. However he had the kids in and I made mention, from there on it seemed to be more bags of dog food. Then the filming novelty wore off and we don't see it anymore. I'm sure the use you do with it isn't far from where you live thus you have certain routes you normally take and know the environment. Again limiting your chances of mishap. However not everyone who see this is going to have the foresight or simply in tow where with all to mitigate dangerous situations or obstacles.

I imagine you tried pushing it at first with the swivel wheel? That looks like it may work well more so I'm daylight but I better without weight in it it won't be as stable and the third wheel would float. Did you upgrade the stroller?

i don't like the idea of attaching anything to a self-balancing body directly, because the rider has no direct control of the attachment. Rather a rider should hold or attach something to himself directly with the ability to drop the handle/linkage at will. kzfaq.infoicuiXCcRZYs this dude here risks being hit from behind by his kid because he strapped the leash to his pant's belt somehow.
