One of the most haunting scenes of this entire series is when the Major that killed Grisha's sister broke the fourth wall to address the audience directly. That was the author pointing out how hypocritical we all are, in that we always talk about straying away from violence & cruelty and we act disgusted by it but in reality we yearn for it, just like how we enjoy this show so much. He tells us that we should embrace the worlds cruelty instead of running away from it. That is the only way to truly grow and gain a understanding of this cruel world. Also if you pay attention to what Grisha was saying to Grice, he mentions that "I have yet to decipher most of the text, but I know because I believe in our founder Ymir", this tells us that the only truth in the world is that there is no truth. Truth belongs to the one that believes it to be.

Now you know why the Smiling Titan is Smiling because Dina was smiling before she turned. It's crazy how Isayama planned this much ahead.

To be honest if anyone looked you in the eye and said they understood everything completely the first time they saw this, they're lying. Don't feel bad.

some key points and reminders from the ep: - only eldians can turn into Titans because of their connection to the founder ymir - the Ymir fritz they mention is different from the ymir we know, (Ymir’s flashback from s2 begins to make more sense after this ep) - the eldians that are left on the continent where Marley is, are put into internment zones and are discriminated against because of their ability to essentially turn into giant monsters, and because of what their ancestors did in the past - in the past, about 2000 years ago, without saying too much, the eldians and their empire basically ruled the world and fought and controlled the land, the king of the eldians, king Fritz, was finally fed up with the fighting and moved to Paradis island with some of his people (the island where Eren and the gang are) - again, without saying too much, conflict arose between eldians and Marley saw this as an opportunity and managed to defeat eldia and gained 7 of the 9 titans under their control - because eldians are the only race that can turn into Titans, Marley allows them to live in their nation but in secluded areas and internment zones, they then eventually choose Eldian kids worthy of obtaining 7 of the 9 Titan powers and have them work under Marley and are given the title of “warriors” (ex: Reiner, Annie, Bertholdt) there's a lot more info but that would require some spoilers that's not revealed yet from this episode

This is why it's one of the best shows in the world, it starts off as titans vs poor humans inside 3 walls, and then developped to be so much bigger than that with so many plot twists and connexions along the way.

Grisha's voice actor is f'n AMAZING

Fritz and reiss family is one in the same. So yes Dina fritz IS INDEED related to the reiss family. Only eldians can turn into titans that's why they're descriminated against. All eldians are descendents of Ymir fritz aka the cooordinate founding Titan aka the first titan to ever exist. Currently eren possesses the founding Titan cuz his father stoled it from the royal family within the walls. The founding Titan has been passed down within the royal family generation to generation since it's inception of the first titan Ymir fritz. Also you might wanna watch these couple of episodes more than once to fully grasp all the information.

One of the reasons I like AOT is that you have so many awe moments. Also, they do a good job pulling your heart strings by displaying the reality of the past (slavery, the Holocaust, racism, the inaccuracy of history, and the human psyche)

And also they both were titans, so they were basically a 'titan' couple in the end.... Tragic and amazing foreshadowing

In case it went unnoticed, the story that Grisha read and told others, was not complete because he could not understand the whole book and only said what he saw in the images and what he wanted to believe, this distorted the history of the past and It is also only his point of view, the other characters also have theirs.

From what we know only Eldians can turn into titans.

Only the eldians can be turned into titans, Marleyans can't.

This episode has A LOT of info, you guys did a better job than I did at digesting it. Also Grisha is one of the best written characters in the show considering he doesn't have much screen time. He has similar traits to Eren without being a clone in looks and personality.

Fun fact: Ymir's past, that was showed in season 2, was originally explained in her letter. It made more sense because at that point you're aware of Marley and how they turn Eldians to titans on the wall, and who the "real" Ymir is. When season 2 came out I was surprised they showed her past because it had just recently came out in the manga at the time and I thought anime-onlys would be so confused without context 😅

I remember I first realized Dina was the smiling Titan was the first shot of her transforming, and my reaction lined up with Eren’s lol

The reveals in this one episode are truly God-tier.

This is literally the most important and unforgettable episode.

Hajime Isayama the author and artist of this series is a genius. Man plotted the entire thing for 13 years. If you go back and watch season 1 again there's so much subtle hints, clues and foreshadowing. Great reaction from you ladies. Buckle up, Season 4 is insane as well.

The best thing about this episode is when the Sergeant Major is talking about how "people actually like to see cruelty" "It's interesting" while he's looking directly at the viewer. It's a way to tell us how we are just as disgusting and in the morally wrong enjoying watching people fight titans, die and feel absolute raw terror because "it's interesting" and we don't care cause they're just animated fictional characters, as the Sergeant Major who thinks "it's interesting" seeing Grisha's sister get eaten by dogs and turning people into titans. The sergeant major views the Eldians the same way we see the show and it's animated characters. It's just entertaining, it's interesting to watch.

I mean. I don't think it was a coincidence. If the coordinate connects all the Eldians subconsciously, and being a pure titan is a dream you can't wake from then maybe she subconsciously came for him. Then after Eren ate his father he was the last shred of Grisha. It would explain why she turned up when they were outside the wall in season 2 and came straight for their home when Shinganshina fell.

At 16:30, the Sgt. Gross isn't just looking at and addressing Grisha: That's the writer of Attack on Titan looking at and commenting on us the viewers of the cruel acts Grisha knows about and the cruelty in AoT in general. That guy is speaking about the uncomfortable truth that in part makes the series interesting. The primary difference is ofc that Sgt Gross is committing the cruel acts while we're only spectating after the fact, but the parallel is still there.

The Fritz and the Reiss are the same. The Reiss just changed their last name to hide, so that they wont be targetted like Eren always was.

Did you recognise the other titans that got thrown off the wall? The one with the beard looks pretty familiar, like the one that first ate Eren. That entire group is the same group that invaded Trost, you see all of them around the city, if you watch it back you can play where's waldo with them all.

I remember something that someone said in another AOT reaction. That guy who killed Grisha’s sister said that people pretty much enjoy seeing violence and chaos and stuff, that peace gets boring after a while. So when he gets kicked off and eaten, you feel a kind of joy of that because he was such a bad person, but you’re doing exactly what he said. Mind blown!!! Not only that dina is recognizable in Titan form most most of the Titans in that group, we've seen throughout the story. There was the one with the anime eyes y'all mentioned, but the old man titan with the beard is the same one that Eren sacrificed himself to save Armin from in season 1

about AOT action movie, a couple of years ago, Andy muschietty (filmmaker, director of IT) said that he was planning about an AOT movie. but from last year, zero news about it.

This and the early seasons of GoT were both good, I think Game of Thrones really took a nose dive in quality due to the last two seasons (as well as season 6 to some extent) with George RR Martin basically ignoring the show to try to finish the books, and D&D basically not knowing what they were doing at all. If you just went by the first 4 seasons GoT (the TV show) might be as good. I agree a live action AoT would be hard to do well, if not impossible. It's not just the titans, but actually filming people flying around on wires would basically be impossible. You'd have to use 100% CG or Robots or something. This is like a s show that can pretty much only exist in Animation, at least at this point in time.

Dina promised to find Grisha whatever and whenever and in a way she did because she went to their house unconsciously. But instead of Grisha, she found Carla and Eren (during when Dina got ripped apart by the titans unintentionally commanded) great story writing
