Due to suffering with really bad PMS followed by heavy, painful periods, I was considering have the contraceptive injection. In this vlog I talk about my reasons for not having the Depo injection right now and why I'm trying the pill instead.

Lovely period chat! It has been 3 years but still help a lot. I'm taking Cerazette half a month ago and just recently noticed some irregular bleeding. You really encouraged me to keep on using it😂Hope you have found the perfect contraceptive for you and looking forward to your updates!

Cerazette is POP. I have it for PMDD and Endo. My skin used to be parched dry - it is now lovely and soft and moist. Also my eyelid rash is just gone. I look gorgeous!! My periods are lighter and less agonising and I am slightly slimmer, hopefully will be even slimmer in a few months. My body still goes into spasms when I have my period however I am hopeful it will lessen!! Progesterone Good stuff in general!

From my experience with Depo it's a pain in the arse when you come off it, my cycles were messed up for a really long time. I've recently gone onto Yasmin in an effort to control my dodgy cycles and other rubbish symptoms of PCOS.

Tried cerazette for same reasons but only 10% roughly improvement in severe pms etc and gained a load of weight. Stopped it a few weeks ago and now realize 10% plus weight may not be the worst. Injection was horrific for me. Merina coil was my best friend until the day (a year after insertion) that I almost died from sepsis caused by a ruptured abscess caused by it. Currently praying for that on/off switch!

The hormone in cerazette is very similar to the hormone in the implant, in fact a lot of people are prescribed it as a kind of trial for if the hormone interacts well with them before the invasive procedure of having the implant fitted - obviously it’s loads easier to stop taking a pill than to have an implant removed if it doesn’t interact well with you. So if Cerazette does have a positive impact on your periods it’s likely the implant will too, and every girl/woman I know that’s had the implant have had a stoppage in their periods after a while! Personally on cerazette I had no period for the first 2 months, then a 10 day long but light-ish period, and since then I’ve had 2 day long very light periods every month - they’re so manageable and not at all invasive anymore! So perhaps even if your periods don’t stop, they may be very short, light and manageable if you give yourself a little time to let your body adjust to it :)
@ColetteB

That's really interesting - I've been on it a few months now and it certainly hasn't stopped my periods but in the last couple of months they have started to become a little more erratic. I think I'm going to go back to the GP soon to discuss having a coil fitted though.

Ah unfortunately not. After not really doing anything for a while, I ended up with a shorter cycle and bleeding every 3ish weeks. They've since tried & and failed to insert a coil. The pain has become worse since I filmed this but no solution yet.

Did you continue with the cerazette, I’ve had cerazette in my cupboard for over a year but scared to take it due to whether it will make me feel depressed and gain weight/spots etc. I don’t want it for bc purposes either but to help with pmt and hormonal headaches and aches and pains. Just don’t want it to make things worse
@ColetteB
@ColetteB 6 жыл бұрын
So yes I'm still on it - it has helped with PMT & period pain to a point - and as my nurse says, if it makes things worse just stop taking it. Currently I'm planning on trying the coil to see if we can get better results (the dream would be no period at all tbh!)

I was on the contraceptive pill when we first got married. I really struggled with them, they made me horrifically moody. I was extra sensitive all the time. Chris only had to make a jokey comment or something like that and I would flip out. I could be perfectly happy, then within seconds flip to inconsolable, hysterical crying and shouting. I also found I would get more headaches although my doctor said that wasn’t likely to be a reaction to the pill or not. I liked that I could bunch them together like if my holiday fell in that “on” week but has the risk of extra pain etc. I did try another version of the pill but again I didn’t get on with it. About 3/4 months after Jaxon arrived I had to go and take emergency contraception and because of how my doctors surgery do it I had to go and sit down with the nurse and have a proper “how are you protecting yourself” kind of conversion and without even checking my medical history for previous experiences/reactions or the fact that high blood pressure runs in my family (and some versions of the pill can’t be taken if you Jane high blood pressure because of how they react together) tried to convince me that I needed to go on the pill. Erm no thank you so much. Not only am I now dealing with being married, this time I’m a mum to a 4ish month old and a foster career. I do not need those verging on “bipolar” episodes while juggling sleep deprivation etc. (that may be completely the wrong term and don’t get me wrong I know bipolar by itself is not a laughing marred and should be taken seriously). I guess if I really needed to try it again I would risk it but I think I’d wait maybe until Jaxon starts school so that hopefully those swings would be more manageable some how. Sorry essay of a comment!

Thanks Hannah! It's amazing how differently we can all be affected by these things isn't it. I used to love the flexibility of running my packs together when I was younger but that's not something I can do with Cerazette. I hope you find something that works for you. x

The pill gave me such bad headaches, I couldn't go back on it again. It sounds like it's working a little for you though. I find that the nurses are always trying to push the coil, I wonder why it is? I agree, there should be a switch to turn periods off when you don't need them anymore! #KZfaqSunday
