Cliff Robinson is father to two adults with intellectual disabilities; Marita (48) and Johnny (46). Both are highly dependent on Cliff and rely on him for their basic needs. He’s spent his life building a home for his children, a place of love and acceptance.
But now he’s facing old age and is about to undergo a high-risk surgery. Cliff is worried they might loose everything.

In a world where so many fathers disappear from their children's lives, it's refreshing to see a father who not only sticks around, but sticks around under difficult circumstances. Nothing but love and blessings to you Mr. Robinson, and to Marita and Johnny as well. Would love to see an update to this video.

Wish the same. 💛 Was lucky to have a good Dad. Few out there. Especially ones who stay to care for children with disabilities. I think about all those children in South America born in poverty with the same condition after their mothers contracted the Zika virus. Do you think those fathers stuck around or the mothers had support? I highly doubt it. Those children in this video have so much love. I'm glad they do. Wish the same could be offered all over.

Not allowing kids to be themselves, to develop, progress, but do everything for them......is form of abuse as Dr. Phil said... because kids want to be themselves and be independent...Dr. Joe Dispenza and Bruce Lipton say that brain works as a compouter program so if someone will say women are weak.... their body and subconscious software program will believe it and will find any evidence every day.... if someone will say women are strong or kids are strong... the body and subconscious mind will try to find evidence evey day in every situation that its true that the person is strong and healthy, because people have 60 thousands of thoughts a day, and 90 percent of the thoughts are the sae as the day before. so the brain is trying to find evidence to protect the body., but its your choice what kind of informtion you put in body, what you decide to believe to create subconscious program that works on 95 percent of the day.... Dr. joe Dispenza wrote book about it. Some woman had a daughter with down symdrome, the daughter asked her about her condiction the mother told her she is absolutly great skilled smart... so she instaled the program in her mind... The girl became successful as actress and confident.

hes the definition of a good man, great father, he provides food, shelter, love and acceptance. I know a lot of men that need to step up their game, and the ones I'm talking about have "normal" children, so they won't be caring for them do half as long as this man takes care of his children. and when I said "normal" I didn't say it in a degrading way, his children are special needs, obviously, but I commend this man for taking on the role of "dad". special special man. and I'd never guess he's 80. he looks great! and I love that he let's them do adult things, such as drinking, they're human after all, let em have a drink! and I love how much his little girl loves him. when she cried when he was about to go and have surgery, it broke my heart. can we have an update on this family soon?

Broke my heart to see how upset and worry she was about her dad surgery. Cliff’s son doesn’t talk much but you can see in his eyes he was worry you can also see how much he love his dad too! This father is FANTASTIC! What a hero!! Can’t even imagine how hard it is...day to day endless chores, plus a potentially aggressive but loving son on anti-psychotics with tardive dyskinesia to boot! Father needing major surgery which Thank God, was successful! Am glad he lives near the water since that was originally part of his profession & identity. What a hero! Resources for mental health / disabilities seems very limited globally. Perhaps we should all think what it means to be human? What care are we willing to give each other?

Marita is such a sweetheart. As her dad says, she could easily be taken advantage of, as she seems to love and trusts everyone. He has to be worried sick about what will happen to them when he’s gone or even too ill to take care of them. The cost of care for Johnny is outrageous - $12,000 for six weeks. What are people in his situation supposed to do?

This is so heartwarming and heartbreaking. His wife leaving him with no support is just... a mess. Him fighting away alcoholism and being the sole caretaker for two kids (at one point three) who have severe struggles, for over 40 years, that’s absolutely incredible. I really hope they’re able to set up safe care and neither of those adults are lost in the system or taken advantage of. They clearly have been given a lot of skills and exposure to the real world, things at the time of the birth doctors and therapists didn’t encourage but this dad figured out, and they should be able to use those, even though (Johnny specifically) doesn’t have nearly as much expressive language as he does receptive, but learning to communicate in other ways is so important. I don’t see recent comments, but if there’s a fund or something I really think we should get it circulating again. This dad worked so hard and deserves peace of mind.I also think it’s important for him to have self-care and respite time. He has to be stressed. I hope he gets that, and knows it doesn’t mean he doesn’t love his kids with every cell in his being- he’s just human and can be his absolute best both mentally and physically when he gets some breaks now and then, just like everyone else. I rarely have so many emotions come up, but this story really got to me. It’s been a couple years. I’m sending them lots of good vibes.

This father is so special to fight to get his kids back and show them a great life! Most men would be scared to do it! I have a lot of respect for him! But I was raised by a strong mother and a strong father! I feel blessed! Those children are very blessed also!!

this is the most beautiful story I've watched throughout all I've seen so far. an alcoholic who gave up everything for his children... you can truly see how much he loves them. he reminded me a little of my Papa ( grandfather ) & this touched me so much I she's a few years 💟😇

He said, “ I just want to be a good father”… I’m speechless. Cliff- there is truly no word that is “good” enough, that can compare to how truly outstanding of a father you are. Also- having a baby with microcephaly is not always due to genetics. For example- women bit by mosquitoes carrying Zika while pregnant causes the fetus to develop microcephaly.

My mother in law was a full time caregiver to her two intellectually disabled children until her death in December 2019. My husband and I made the decision to bring his sister who is now 43 years to live with us in Australia. Their older brother lives a residential home in Auckland. My sister in law, Mata, can’t live independently and requires 24 hours care. So my husband and I with the help of our daughter and her partner take turns looking after Mata.

This is a wonderful story of love and commitment to family. This was made possible by funding for the dad to stay home to take care of them. The USA should do this for families.

That's one incredible dad right there. This video brought tears to my eyes especially when Marita was crying to leave her dad. I'm a physically challenged individual myself and can relate so much to Marita's fears. I wish the very best for this beautiful family.

This was truly an inspiring story. I am so overwhelmed with how amazing the dad's selfless love and patience he has with his children. After all the options he chose to nurture, and love unconditionally without any help. This is a perfect example of LOVE... I care for disabled young adults in a home and it was so nice to see this father who was broken hearted from his wife leaving him turn himself around and stand tall to dedicate himself to make sure he cared for his children by himself everyday. If only everyone would have his kind heart and wise soul this world would be a better place. Thank you for sharing this personal, touching, unconditional love story...it warmed my heart.

Truly the most amazing father, to cope with his wife's mental illness and her leaving, his willpower to stop drinking, and the most beautiful way he not only looks after his children, but his interaction with them. Absolutely wonderful. This man needs some TLC and financial help from somewhere to ease his burden. He deserves so much 🌹
