Attorney: Kohberger wrongly given credit for expertise, if guilty | Banfield

Idaho killing suspect Bryan Kohberger got his bachelor's degree at DeSales University in 2020, followed by a master's degree from the school's criminal justice program.
He then moved to Pullman, Washington, and became a Ph.D. candidate and teaching assistant at WSU, just across the border from Idaho.
"I think we're giving him a lot of credit about being this PHD student in criminology, etc. I mean, if he truly committed this crime, he really didn't do that great of a job," criminal defense attorney Sara Azari said.

I can think of a number of incentives a prosecutor would have at entering a plea deal in a murder case. First two that come to mind are 1) the case isn't that solid and or 2) you're dealing with a serial killer who has killed other people and he/she is willing to trade information that would resolve those cases in exchange for a lighter sentence/reduced charges. Peculiar this legal expert can't think of any.

I think you are totally right! Another reason, like in Chris Watt’s case, is that it saves victim’s families from hard detail’s in the case or from reliving the nightmare, as trials create great stress. I think life in prison is often a greater punishment, especially level 4 or level 5 security prisoners. Kohberger is too young to handle _life_ at 28, imagine if he lives to 90, he’ll still be locked up in the year 2085. That’s like someone locked up from 1960 to today. Amazingly some live in those shoes we just never see them In this case I don’t see it however cause a few of parents are pushing for capital punishment, especially Kaylee’s parents. Often the DA is concurring with victim’s families. The criminal severity will take precedence here in terms of punishment

Some of the Elantra footage car appears to be silver, not at all white and has a slightly different body style to Kohberger's. The fact Kohberger's cell pinged 12 times within a 7-month period, to me, seems insignificant. Pings on cell phones commonly occur within a 25-mile radius. Plus, with applications and software, cell phones do things on their own, are easily hacked and are not a good source of proof. Kohberger lived 8 miles from the crime scene. I live in a city where I travel all the time, many miles from where I live and so do millions of other people. I want to know more about that delivery driver who delivered the food and the driver who dropped the 2 girls off after the food truck, and why Kaylee and Maddie seemed to be upset with one another while walking and talking on video when one says to the other "What did you tell Adam?" and she somewhat angrily replies "I told Adam everything!" People in the area have been purported as saying the crime scene was a party house where people would go to get drugs. Just check out the police cam videos of when they were called to the house, multiple times. Why didn't the police shut that down? If the roommates who survived heard screams, if they were calling the other roommates on their cell phones and the dying victims were not answering, why not call the police then? You called to see if they're all right in their bedroom. Not one of them answers. So, do you call the police or go to bed? She's lying. Why not just step outside the room and walk a few feet to check on them if you didn't feel it was necessary to call the police? Then why did you feel it was necessary to call everyone in the house to see if they're answering. That, alone, would concern me and I would barricade my door and call the police. She says she saw some guy dressed in dark clothes and a mask and she recognized them just by 2 eyebrows? And then----no one's answering their phone, so roommate(s) decides to catch beauty sleep and decide to never call the police? Now, all of us have some good ideas on why this might be. If it quacks like a duck................it's a duck. She's got to be lying because she makes no sense and her story keeps changing. No one deserves to be murdered. But when questionable activities are taking place, one is constantly hanging out with unsavory people and police are constantly being called, well, bad things might be expected. Not deserved, but expected.

To think something this horrific could happen especially in Idaho which is a very nice place (people) is shocking and heartbreaking. I feel we were all robbed of the gifts and talents and lives these young 4 would have had. They were stolen from us by evil. Can't disagree with any of your take. I agree he most likely left the knife sheath on purpose. It makes no logical sense that it would be there other than it was left on purpose as a misdirection. I feel like the second perpetrator angle is a window into the alternative narrative defense that his lawyers will dream up. Can't you see a scenario where they claim he drove the real killer to the house not having any idea what was going to take place? He is smart, but not as smart as he thinks he is. However I totally agree he was super calculated. It will come out he took lots of precautions but I believe he still made a ton of mistakes.

Its quite possible he thought that his dad may have been arrested or brought in for questioning. The button where they apparently got the dna is right on the outside of the sheath. imo there is no way he leaves it there on purpose and doesnt wipe the exposed button surface clean of prints. its definitely logical that the button clip came loose in a scuffle. and it appears he may have went back to retrieve it.

To answer your second question, there’s no possibility until his team knows everything they have it. That happens more when the victims and perpetrators are family. And they’re simply trying to save their family from gruesome details and further trauma. There would be no reason for him to take a deal at this point. I do, however, think, after they got a better idea of how much more the prosecution has, there is a 50-50 chance that he will take a deal then. I believe him asking if anyone else has been arrested, was in reference to his father. Not implying, there was an accomplice, just wondering if his family is being brought into it I also work in a big city. So I may just be basing my opinions off how things are done in more urban areas.
