The Rancher is more reliable, uses less fuel, and is slower and less comfortable. And you shouldn't need an ATV to impress the girls.....that's what being a good, honest, caring and kind person does for you.

Well, I like the work ethic of Ranchers. I prefer the a-arms up front. And I really like stock exhausts as they keep our riding areas open.

so , you say you prefeer rancher ... ( i'm repluing from my buddy's account ) i want some more power how many hp does the max have ? i want an atv for easy extrem and most trail riding but i'm going to use it more for open field ... so what do you reommend ? i just want your personal opinion ( thanks for reply )

Hey I was looking for an atv that's in th price range of a little over 3 thousand tops. Also it doesn't matter what year it is. Mabye a 450 or 300. Any advice.

do you think it would be a good deal to trade my 2008 rancher 420 (bought in november 2008 ) with 1000 miles for a 2007 can am outlander max with 1.800 miles ? i just need your opinion

The RZR will be a lot more fun than the 400. The RZR would compare much better to the 650 or 800 Maxs. The big advantage to the RZR over every other side by side is that it will fit on the ATV-only trails. But although both the Maxs and the RZR are fun - they are quite different.

I was thinking of buying a RZR and then I seen these. I am not sure what I want now. I can get a 2007 Max XT 400 brand new with 3 year warranty. For half the price of a RZR. I am new to ATVs how good do they ride and roll. I have owned lots of buggies but would like to have something abit narrower so I can do some trails with my buddies. Torn between RZR and a Max BTW love the shows keep them up.

I can't answer for what you want out of an ATV - all I can say that if someone gave me the choice I'd take the Rancher every single time.....

But I'm not you......I don't just dislike loud exhausts, I HATE them and think that they have no place on an ATV that's not on a racetrack or the open sand dunes.....That pretty much explains our differences I think.

I really can't say that much as it will depend on how you want to use the machine. Is the Max bigger? A 650 or? I just cannot really say any more than that...The Rancher is a more reliable machine. The Outty is more comfortable and able to carry two people.

it's a 400 outlander max , forgot to mention . i just want a strong machine , and i like the max because it has 2 seats , i just don't know , i want to mention that i got bored of rancher and i want something more poewrful and i also don't like the rancher because it's semi-auto and i can't be switched to auto. max has independent suspension on the rear and sport exhaust ( because ii'm also looking for a machine that sounds really good ) and my rancher is stock and the exhaust is kinda awful

i think he maybe thinks that he would sell the rancher much faster because in our country the ranchers are very rare . He is an Atv seller so all that he does care is how to sell something faster or more expensive. So , do you think the Rancher is a better machine than Max ? I have to mention that he doesn't need any more money and the max is in perfect shape as the rancehr So , again , do you think rancher is better than max ? if you think so please mention why . You would help me very much .

wich one do you think consumes more fuel ? look i just need a powerful atv , the truth is that the girls do like power and i can't satisfy them with my 420 rancher and i also don't really need an atv for extreme riding , only for trail riding and easy extreme . I wonder why he wants to trade for the Rancher? The Max is a good machine but will never hold up over the years like the Rancher. Also would be very dependent on conditions.

@tom132cairns I'd stick with used Japanese machines due to their well-proven reliability.
